"I am giving my rep, Raul, a 5 star rating. I am about to take the plunge and have my house re-sided for the first time ever! My home is 116 yrs old and has only been painted several times over the original wood. However, paint no longer will fix what is happening underneath, with dry rot, aging, etc., so my only option is to have it re-sided & almost start from scratch. I met with Raul, who is "awesome", to say the least. He is knowledgeable, explains everything to a "T" and is so down-to-earth. My old "farm" house is 2 stories, plus a walk-up attic, so this would have cost me a fortune as there is a lot of "territory" to be covered. It still is going to cost me a fortune, but Raul covered every crook & cranny to cut my costs immensely to make it affordable. I am so grateful for his assistance. Now, for the actual removal of the old wood and installation of the new siding...I may have to write another "review" when that actually happens...(to be continued!)."

"They had a total of four employees come out and it took a couple of weeks to complete due to the drying of the stucco. You will get good workers. They didn't give a good heads up when showing up but it didn't cause any problems. This is a relevant problem with any construction company though."

"Harley and the Crew did a great job on the front of the house. They replaced all 20 year old banners above the windows, repaired a horizontal crack in the stucco, resurfaced almost the entire front of the house, repainted the entire exterior, and caulked all the windows. The texture and consistency match perfectly to the pattern of the original. And the price point is phenomenal - you canâ t beat it! I would highly recommend TC Stucco and Plaster to everyone that needs work done on existing stucco. Thank you, Harley and Crew!"

"Summer 2013 was a difficult construction season due to weather. As a result, the project stretched from May until October - lots of promises to be on site on specific dates that passed without activity. Generally, quality of work was good. However, small details were often overlooked and I had to point out the need for correction. E.g., small concrete splashes on the new stucco, no plugs on alignment holes drilled in railings, railings not tight, doorway between garages left crude and unfinished, house foundation wall (now the interior wall of the new garage) left dirty, pocked, and ugly. Bottom line, communication and follow-up were more my responsibility than I would have liked - not pro-active enough on achieving customer satisfaction."

Stucco questions, answered by experts

Choosing between traditional and synthetic stucco depends on your specific needs, budget, and climate. Both options are durable, but synthetic stucco includes an extra layer that makes it more resistant to cracking and a better choice for climates with extreme weather. In hot, dry climates with less rainfall, traditional stucco is a suitable and more affordable option that is less likely to trap moisture. Synthetic stucco also offers more color options and requires less maintenance.

Yes, you can apply the stucco yourself, but it is a time- and labor-intensive project, especially on the exterior of a whole house. DIY stucco is better suited for repairing stucco siding or siding a smaller building, such as a shed or garage. Since most of the cost of stucco siding goes to labor, you can cut down significantly on the total if you’re up for the challenge.

It’s not advisable to use CLR on stucco. CLR is a powerful acidic cleaner designed for removing tough mineral stains. Stucco is a porous material commonly made of cement, lime, and sand. The acidic nature of CLR can potentially damage or etch the stucco surface, leading to discoloration or deterioration.

It is best to use cleaning solutions specifically formulated for stucco or mild household cleaners mixed with water to clean stucco siding. Always test any cleaning product in a small, inconspicuous area before applying it to the entire stucco surface.

Cracks, discoloration, and moisture intrusion often indicate necessary repairs.

Yes, you can screw directly into stucco. Only do so if the item you are installing is a permanent fixture. Drill a pilot hole into the stucco using a masonry or concrete bit, then drive in the screw with a power drill or screwdriver.
