This ended up being a very large project. One wall needed much repair because of water damage and many boards in wall needed replacing. Many areas around house needed repair.
Bill and crew were very professional and cleaned area after each day.
"The owners fiance (who didn't own the property)contacted me to fix some holes inside two flower boxes she wasn't using. I told them the correct way to do the repair would be to remove the flower boxes, and fill in stucco repair under the windows once they are removed. They didn't want to spend the money for the correct way, and told me they had only $700 to spend on the repairs. I gave them another alternative to cover the boxes with metal to keep the water out. Which meant getting another contractor to do this type of work. He insisted he wanted a few holes filled in the flower boxes (on house wall) and wanted me to poke some holes n the bottom of the flower boxes so they wouldn't collect water, and the work needed to be done that week so they could collect some escrow money. I explained to them this wasn't going to work, but did the work regardless the way they wanted. Of course the end result was a quick fix that didn't work like I tried to explain to them. Our company takes pride in our work, and always tries to inform the home owner the correct way way to do the work without any shortcuts."
This was a very good experience from the beginning. My contact was always with Bill McClellan, who would always return phone calls timely. I had some cracks in my garage stucco due to normal settling and wanted them patched. The estimate was the same as I'd gotten from another company, but Bill provided more detailed information about the repairs, and mentioned that one of the areas required new metal lath. He also offered me an Angie's list discount.
The work crew did a great job. They used a drop cloth and tape around the service door. The work was efficient, too. I saw the truck, the work and clean up was done quickly, and suddenly the truck was gone. I needed to have one additional patch done and, again, I looked out the window and saw that it had been completed (early on a Saturday morning).
I would not hesitate to use this company again. I did meet Bill in person and he is a very easy person to work with, but also is professional.
There were some repairs to the existing stucco (cracks) and this work was performed quickly and was well done. Two weeks was allowed for the repairs to cure. We asked for an estimate of when the follow on work would occur and Bill (McClellan) was right on time with his estimate.
The crew of four showed up on a Monday and began the process with prepping which included taping windows, removing gutter downspouts, removing lights, removing house numbers, and erecting scaffolding. Particular attention was used in lying down drop cloths. It was clear that great care was taken to protect the house and plantings.
The individuals on the crew had clearly worked together for a long time and they worked very well together. Everyone had a role and they used their time efficiently.
The end product is very well done. It is apparent that the persons actually applying the mortar were trained and skilled craftsmen who had years of experience. Their help with color and texture was very valuable.
The crew was very good about cleaning up. They made certain that any mortar remains were cleaned up and that the driveway was washed down.
The timing was perfect. The job was scheduled very quickly and finished as agreed, with lots of communication throughout. All of the contractors involved were professional, punctual and always concerned with the welfare of the property. I would absolutely recommend them to everyone and would call them again myself. I am absolutely delighted with the experience and the outcome.

I looked at 3-4 stucco firms a few years ago and got estimates that were comparable, but decided to wait until 2014 to bite the bullet. This is not an inexpensive procedure. Of the firms we looked at, I really liked the reviews that I saw for McClellan Exteriors, and really liked Bill McClellan, the owner. He seems really down to earth and provides a good services at a reasonable cost. When we decided to do the redash, we called Bill and asked for a good re-estimate and went with it with getting any other bids. Our stucco was in bad shape, with stains all over and patched holes where the previous owner insulated the house from the outside. When we bought the house, that was the first thing we noticed, and thought it took much away from the curb appeal. Bill assured us that the patches would be covered up, cracks fixed, and holes filled, so we crossed our fingers.
First, the crew set up scaffolding all around the house and did the sandblasting to remove the layers of dirt and paint on the old stucco. Bill warned us that the inside of our house would be coated with dust, and he wasn't kidding. It reminded me of sanding SheetRock. Besides being dusty, it's extremely noisy. I was working in the house that day and survived breathing in some of the dust, but honestly, you don't really want to be anywhere near the house when they are doing this.
Next, they came over and did the redash in about two days. Our house isn't big, but it's still a lot of surface area and these guys worked fast. And, everything was cleaned up very well.
In the end, we were extremely satisfied with the work. All of the ugly patches are nowhere to be seen and our house looks beautiful--like a brand new house. We were simply amazed at how much better it looks, and I'm certain if we were to sell the house, we would make up the cost in a greater sales price. No doubt our home now has the curb appeal we always wanted when we moved in.
I hope I never have to redash my house again, but if I do, I will definitely hire McClellan Exteriors again.

I want to be clear that Bill seems to be a nice guy and he addressed the uneven patch quickly. Still, because of the uneven patching, charging the highest price without explanation, and backing out of completing the job means I cannot recommend him. He also didn't apply the Angie's List discount, but with all the other issues I didn't bother bringing that up.
"[member name removed] called me to get a stucco estimate after she removed a screen porch addition on the back of her house. The wall inside the porch connected to the house was covered with wood siding. I gave her a verbal quote of $2,600.00 assuming I would need to re-stucco the entire surface. After discussing the quote, I thought if I could remove a section of wood to see what stucco was remaining behind the wall, I could give her a better indication of the work involved. She agreed, and when I did this, I saw most of the stucco was in tact and gave her a written estimate between $900.00-$1,300.00. I also gave her and estimate for painting the stucco wall for $600.00. She agreed to the stucco repair, but did not want me to paint. After the porch was removed, there was a coved lip on the bottom of the stucco wall that required one additional trip to build out flush with the existing stucco. In addition. She asked me to fill in a gap on her foundation by the back door and remove and haul away a roof metal flashing piece which should have been done by the demolition contractor. I did this request at no extra charge. During the process of the stucco repairs, she had changed her mind and wanted me to go ahead with painting the back wall. I told her my work load was so busy I no longer had time to complete the painting since I did not have it on my schedule. I didn’t know she was an Angie’s list member until she submitted her report. The discount ad I run states “must mention coupon when calling for estimate” She never mentioned it. I believe the extra work I performed compensates for the $45.00 she is asking for."
