"These guys were great! They were friendly and very knowledgeable about what they were doing. They looked at my steps and didn't exaggerate the problem. I was told what needed to be done and that they were going to drill a few holes to inject the limestone grout, and then did exactly what they said they were going to do. I did call around to get quotes from other companies and was quoted $3000 as a starting point. I paid a fraction of that cost and got my money's worth. If you are ever in need of concrete repair, call these guys! I'm glad I did."

"On July 1st (2021), Mel and Stephan from Innovative Basement Authority dug a 30'x18" trench by hand to bury our sump pump discharge pipe. They installed a freeze valve, 30' of 5" PVC, and a discharge grate, exactly where we asked to place it. They had to dig right next to the garage foundation, so this was no easy feat. They also made short work of removing a 4'x4' concrete pad for us. The guys were very courteous, punctual, and seriously hard-working. They did an exceptional job, and in just half a day, I was able to check 1 more item off my honey-do list! We are hoping to hire Innovative Basement Authority for some garage floor concrete work in the near future. Thanks IBA! Brian & Terri MacDonald"

"Quoting was fair and easy. There was a bit of a mix up between the quote and the person's doing the work, but was resolved fairly quickly the work was done just as quickly. Our concrete was raised noticeably and our issue resolved at the time of the work. They have a great warranty, which should be considered with every job in my opinion, it's a fair price for peace of mind! Would use again and have already pass along a referral!"

"

He seemed knowledgeable and business like so I hired him. When his crew came to do the work, he introduced me to the workers who would be doing the actual installation including one of his sons. He made sure when the introductions were made; his son gave me a good firm handshake and looked me straight in the eye. As the mother of four children I was impressed with the way Jon was teaching business communication skills to his child.

My property in Minnetonka is built on soil that has a large clay component. This factor has caused many problems for homeowners in my area because the instability of the land. Pietig and Sons carefully prepared the underlying surface. Within a year, two small sections were not weathering well and had cracked. Jon came to take a look, determined that what was happening was unacceptable and not up to his standards. He replaced them – at no cost to me.

The person doing the replacement work did a masterful job of removing the damaged sections, properly preparing the area and then calling for a cement mixer truck delivery when he was ready to install the concrete. When the large truck arrived he carefully used a wheelbarrow to deliver the concrete to the area and carefully blended the sections together. All seemed perfect.

Something strange happened within a few years. The sections that had been replaced were not holding up well. A concrete company, doing work for another homeowner in my area, came to take a look. He admired the work that had been done and complimented the skill of the craftsman who had done the job. Then he asked a question. He inquired about the concrete supplier and asked if I remembered the name on the truck that had delivered the product? He then proceeded to tell me a story that was the basis for his question and explained what he was sure was happening.

He told me he had once been a foreman on a huge concrete product for a hotel parking lot. Several years after the installation of the lot, the concrete began to chip and flake. The hotel’s attorneys filed a lawsuit against his company to recover the money they had paid him. They claimed the work he had done was inferior. He had worked h****** that project, was proud of the work he had done and was personally devastated because his skill and honesty had been called into question. After a lengthy investigation, it was determined shale had been added to the concrete mix delivered for his project. This had caused the driveway to “pop” and disintegrate. Claims and damages filed against the supplier were eventually settled and his work was vindicated. Sure enough, it was the same large concrete supplier that had delivered the product to my home. Shale “pops” were also evident in those two apron sections that had been replaced.

Even though those sections had already been replaced once, when Jon reviewed some photos I sent to him and heard the story about the other company’s experience, he said, “We will replace those sections again. It is the morally correct thing to do – I stand by my work.” He was also gracious enough to say that because the cement supply contractor was so large, it is not always possible to monitor every worker and batch of concrete mix. He realized that even in the finest companies, bad things could happen. What separates Jon’s thinking from others is his resolve to take responsibility and do right by his clients. If only his ethical standards could be taught to every business owner and to every business student!

So, fellow homeowner, if you are considering having any concrete work done at your home or business, I’d like to recommend Harold Pietig and Sons. This is a company that isn’t satisfied until the customer is completely satisfied. From the admirable way Jon chooses to pass along life lessons to his sons to the ethical way in which he treats his customers, I cannot recommend this company highly enough. I feel so fortunate to have hired Harold Pietig and Sons to do work at my home. This is a company that stands by its work and takes moral responsibility for running a business with the greatest integrity.

"Damian Greene responded quickly to my request for a bid on the project as did three other Angie's list roofing companies in the area.  Damian returned to discuss the job and negotiate the price twice.  He was easy to work with and worked hard to get the job and complete it on time.  No illegal immigrant labor worked on the roof or gutter.  The crews were competent, well-supervised and polite.  They took care to use tarps on the tearoff and did a fair job of getting the wayward nails off the lawn and shrubs after the job was complete.  There were several challenges with the reroof due to the way the decking was put on originally.  They made modifications to fit the situation at no additional cost.  The job was 99% completed in the three days they said it would take.  We started in snow showers and ended the third day just before rain set in.  The last night several of the crew including Damian stayed well after dark to finish the ridge caps and the chimney reglet.  The next morning several of the crew returned to finish some ridge cap as yet to be completed.  Damian suggested a change in vent location and moved two vents a significant distance from the original location and did this for the cost of the materials only.  We discussed best practices and modifications to my original specifications and we agreed on how the work should proceed.  There were no shortcuts on process or materials.  On two parts of the installation, Damian had the crew redo the work that had been done to coincide with what he thought was the better way to deal with the situation.  The gutter crew was a family operation and they also came to do the job on time, were competent and were courteous.  Damian was there for that operation as well.  I paid half of the job cost when the materials arrived (very nearly the cost of the materials estimates I obtained from Menards, Home Depot and Lowes) and paid the other half (the labor only bid from Damian if I had bought the materials myself) upon completion and after my walk around with the inspector.  I paid for the gutter work directly to the crew supervisor.  I have inspected the roof and worked on projects ancillary to the new roof and the quality looks good and there are no leaks.  The gutters are doing their job.  Damian made a point of asking that I call him immediately if there were any problems.  After about two months, none have surfaced.  If I have other projects where I need a construction contractor, I will definitely contact Damian as part of the selection process.  I highly recommend Greene Constuction.      "

Concrete Mudjacking questions, answered by experts

The timeframe is generally a few hours, allowing for immediate use post-hydration, ensuring minimal disruption to surrounding activities.

Mudjacking is usually reserved for light-duty slabs, like patios, driveways, and sidewalks. However, it can be an effective way to lift garage slabs and concrete around the perimeter of the home, which could harm your foundation if it’s not done properly. The risk of damage is why having a professional mudjacking company carry out the work is important. This type of slab or foundation repair is relatively inexpensive, especially if you consider that a DIY job requires that you pay to rent the necessary equipment.

Address drainage issues, avoid heavy loads, and seal cracks to prevent future settling.

Many contractors offer warranties for their work. Confirm terms before starting the project.

The method involves lifting settled concrete using pressurized cement slurry via drilled holes. This solves uneven surfaces and prevents further settling.
