"We hired Cabinets for Everyone to remodel our kitchen after meeting with several other contractors and finding them on Angie's List. The work they performed was of the highest quality and done within the projected time frame. They were involved and handled all aspects of the job including the coordination of the sub-contractors they used. Our remodel included taking everything down to the studs and starting from scratch. In addition to our kitchen, they did additional work for us with our mudroom, laundry room and dining area. We love our new rooms! We would hire them again for other jobs and recommend them to our friends and neighbors."

"Our house was built in 1999, and at the time we had opted for an inexpensive laminate flooring for our kitchen/dining area & foyer. Over the years, the wear and tear or pets and children had taken its toll on our floor. This is when we found CK Tile & Stone when searching for someone to help us out. We met with Chris, and he helped guide us in the different tile options (stone, porcelain, ceramic, etc) and their various pros and cons. We looked around at various tile shops and found a beautiful porcelain tile that looks very much like slate. Chris helped us decide on a pattern, and we ended up with a great pinwheel like pattern where you have a mix of 12x12 and 6x6 tiles. At this point, everything was handled by Chris. He took care of the measurements, and ordered on our behalf from the tile shop where we had found these particular tiles. The installation took a total of three days. Day 1) tore out the existing laminate, and installed the new backerboard. Day 2) installed the tile with spacers and left it overnight to set. Day 3) grout between the tiles, and cleanup. We were so thoroughly impressed by CK Tile & Stone we will not hesitate to call them up again. We do have some work coming up to redo a couple of bathrooms and they'll be our contractor for certain."

"A property that I recently purchased needed a complete re-do in the mechanical room, which had no place for water to go if the worst occurred.  Another Angie’s List firm helped put together a plan that water proofed the floor by building the equivalent of a tiled shower floor with cement board, Red Guard, and porcelain tile.  It included a new floor drain as well, which the room did not previously have. Because I was under a time constraint, the tile work was sub-contracted with Brian Geurts of Brian’s Whatever, LLC.  I believe Brian used to be on the other company’s team and is now doing independent trim, ceramic tile, sheetrock, backsplash, bath, kitchen, and basement remodeling.  He also apparently does the tradeshow display setups for a local tile company.  I discovered that he has a lot of remodeling experience. Brian did a wonderful job waterproofing and tiling the mechanical room floor.  He even created a hinged trap door in the tile floor that gives me access into the crawl space.  He set it up so once I’m done with the remodeling project, I can add a bead of silicon to complete the waterproofing seal on the door access.  He even volunteered to come out and do it himself if I need it. Brian was very professional and offered up ideas that I had not thought about.  He even took a weekend of his own time to get the job done.  You don’t see that everyday.  His work looks great and he pays attention to the detail. Thanks, Brian.  "

"All went very well! Loved working with Sam and his crew. He always responded to my questions very quickly. Any issues were quickly resolved. Love how the house looks now! Total time was 2 months from initial demolition of bathroom to kitchen finish. Seems reasonable based on extent of what we had done. Any delays were due to tradesmen not being available but Sam kept us in the loop on that. Would hire again!!"

"This was a smaller job and I appreciate the fact that Dave took the time to help us out. I was not aware that it would be someone different that would come out to do the actual work-I was a little worried when they showed up but they said they had done this for a very long time and they did a nice job. One of them broke the wooden threshold when they pulled the old carpet out, but Dave came back out again to replace that piece with no problem. Thank you, Dave!

"Fantastic. I had another company there to remove and replace the laminate kitchen counter and old sink with a new granite kitchen counter and new sink. The kitchen counter people that were sent did not know how to remove a garbage disposal or reverse osmosis kitchen sink faucet but this company did in just a few minutes. This company and I went together to a large hardware store chain to shop together to get all the things we need for the list of repairs I had. They showed me the TYPES of items to pick out and I picked out the style I wanted. No other construction/cleaning company would go with the property owner and shop together but did. They did a lot of the work listed above in the just the first day. They did an EXCELLENT job, worked quick, knew what they were doing (they also removed the garbage disposal and water filter system better than the kitchen counter top company), and they did a lot of the work listed above in just the first day. I will use them for my own home and also my rental properties (apartment building, single family homes)."

Granite Restoration questions, answered by experts

Yes, stains can often be removed using a poultice paste that draws out the stain. The paste is applied, allowed to dry, and then removed, lifting the stain from the stone.

The frequency for sealing granite countertops depends on several factors, including the type of sealant used, the color of the granite, and how heavily the countertops are used. As a general guideline, resealing is often recommended every 12 to 18 months, but some sources suggest it could be as often as every few months or at least once a year.

The type of sealant is a major factor: water-based sealants may need reapplication every six months to a year, while more durable solvent-based sealants can last for five to 10 years. Additionally, factors like heavy kitchen traffic, frequent use of acidic cleaners, and lighter granite colors may require more frequent sealing to prevent staining.

To determine if your countertops need resealing, you can perform a simple water test. Place a few drops of water or a wet paper towel on an inconspicuous area of the granite. After 10 to 15 minutes, check the spot. If the water has beaded up, the seal is still intact. If the water has been absorbed and darkened the stone, it's time to apply a new coat of sealant. You can choose to seal the granite yourself or hire a professional to ensure it's done correctly.

Yes, it is possible to buff and polish your floors yourself, particularly for smaller areas. However, this is considered an intermediate-level DIY project that is time-consuming and requires patience and know-how. The process involves cleaning the floors before applying a polish, which can be done manually with a cloth or with a rented or purchased floor buffer and buffing solution. If not done correctly, you risk leaving burn-like marks, puddles, or an uneven finish, which could lead to costly repairs. For larger spaces or to ensure a professional result, hiring a professional is often worthwhile. They use industrial equipment to complete the job faster, providing a deep clean and a more even, polished finish without damaging your floors.

The best cleaning method to use for your project will depend on the specifics of that project. However, sandblasting does come with the risk of damaging the surface you’re trying to clean. One safer alternative to sandblasting is laser cleaning, which can remove many of the same contaminants with a lower risk of damage and a lower overall cost.

How long it takes to complete stone restoration work will vary from home to home and project to project. Overall, a professional can complete a one-room project in one to two days. When vetting your local contractors, be sure to ask them how long they think the project will take to factor in any that could speed up or prolong the completion of the project.
