In a word, unprofessional. After having worked with Chris on a prior project, we called him in early March when we wanted to do some tile work in a mud room and half bath. Chris came out within a week or so to see the project, during which he told us how much tile we needed. After the tile arrived the first week of April, we contacted Chris and were told he’d let us know when he figured out his schedule, although it’d be at least 3 weeks. We followed up 3 weeks later after not hearing from him and were told he’d get back to us at the end of the following week. After the next week passed, I left Chris voicemail and sent multiple texts over a few weeks time with no response. He answered the phone one time and told me he thought we were on the schedule for the following week, but would call me back to confirm. Chris never called back and ignored several voicemail and texts over the course of the next 4 weeks or so. If he didn’t want to do the job, he should have just told us so we could have found someone else to to the work, instead he just strung us along until we finally gave up on him in mid-June. This isn’t the way to run a business and you can be sure I’ll never recommend him to anyone in the future.

Had a great conversation with them, was asked to send/text pictures of the space to be worked on which I then did (as I was 40+ miles out on a smaller job). Didn’t hear anything back - no confirmation of receipt on first day, so I asked the next day if it was received and no response. Decline the work on the phone or at least respond you aren’t interested after looking at the pictures.

Response from CK Tile and Stone
I did not receive any picture texts about the job. You called me through Angie's list service number they provide. If the pictures were sent to that number it is not associated with my company at all and I won't get them. It's a phone number generated by Angie's List. During conversation I provide my direct line to send photos to. Now I don't recall during this conversation if I did or not as it was a lengthy conversation but usually provide my phone number. If I didn't that's on me. I double and triple checked for your texts to make sure it didn't slip through the cracks. But I never received anything. I had this happen one other time and they called me the following day and we completed the job. We receive calls through our advertising and calls through referrals. I know I've forgotten to give my number one other time. Like I said if I forgot that's on me but we could have rectified the situation with a follow up call after no confirmation text.

The backsplash turned out great and we have received many compliments on it. I don't think that Chris realized that they were individual small tiles and not on a sheet, so the install was more complicated than planned, but they did a great job on it. On the fireplace we were originally going to use a porcelain tile that looked like cement. Chris suggested instead that we let his team make actual cement tiles for us. We agreed to that and they were installed. They looked great and we were happy at first, but the tile keeps getting cracks on the sides of the fireplace which look like the large tiles on the front are coming off of the fireplace. When you tap your fist on the tile it sounds hollow as if there are large portions of the tiles that are no longer attached to the fireplace. The cement tiles are huge and very heavy. Before we realized how bad the situation was (we originally thought that we just needed to fill in small cracks on the side because of minor shifting) and we were happy with the backsplash, we asked Chris to give us a bid on tiling the other fireplace in the livingroom. He came out to do that and while he was there I showed him the cracks on the side of the hearth room fireplace and asked if he could patch that up while he would be there to do the tiling on the livingroom fireplace. Chris said that wouldn't be a problem. After about a week I didn't hear back from him on a quote for the living room fireplace or to schedule the work and left him several messages. After a while I started to wonder if seeing the cracks on the hearth room had scared him off and he was just trying to avoid talking to me. Two weeks ago I had another tile installer do the livingroom fireplace and I showed him the hearth room tile. He agreed that the situation was scary and wondered if the right kind of adhesive had been used for that application. Since then I tried to call Chris again and it went to voicemail (10/10/17). He didn't return that message. In the message I said that I needed to talk to him about the hearth room tiles and that "I have serious concerns about them and that someone could get hurt" and to please call me. I am very willing to work with Chris on a fair solution to the situation, but I am very discouraged that I feel that I need to resort to posting a negative review in order to get a response. I feel pretty helpless on what else to do.
Description of Work: Chris' team did the backsplash for our kitchen remodel and refaced the fireplace in the hearth room. The tiles on the backsplash were purchased tiles which Chris had recommended. The tile for the fireplace were custom made cement slabs which Chris' team made themselves.

Description of Work: The service was to clean tile and re-grout some areas. They just used some cleaner to clean the tile and tub and I wasn't overly impressed with that but they did a great job putting new sealer around my tub, a shower, and some floor tile areas. The edging was put down very nicely.

I initially contacted CK Tile and Stone in May and they said they were swamped as a result of their 'Big Deal' promotion $550 for 40 Sq ft of back splash till end of July (fancy designs, materials, could cost extra). We decided that we'd wait for things slow down for them. Then in July they said they had a cancellation and could fit us in. We had already purchased our tiles and we took longer to come up with a design for the section above the range while they were on-sitee. We had an additional area at the table next to the pantry that that worked on as well. This was a 2 day effort to let the grout/tile adhesives to dry. They were accommodating to our design ideas and provided ideas of their own. The overall workmanship and quality looks great! They cleaned up the left over debris and materials. They came back a 3rd day since we requested additional caulking and sealing (for the limestone tiles). We are very satisfied and would love to have them over to do the same when we decide to finish our basement!
Description of Work: We wanted to have our kitchen back splash and side table (on the other side of the pantry) tiled with 2 tiles. A Glass/Metal tile and a Limestone tile we got from 2 different places. The total area was around 35 Sq ft.

Chris and everyone else I worked with was very professional and courteous. I most appreciated the fact that the guys purchased the grout for me on the day of the job after I selected a color. I understood from my initial call that my project would be scheduled around other larger projects. From the time I had my tile in late May it took about three months for the job to be scheduled and completed so it took a little longer to schedule than I originally would have anticipated or preferred. The work was great and the backsplash looks very nice. Their price for labor is average in my experience. I would hire again if the prices were a little bit lower and they were more available for small projects.

CK Tile and Stone is by far one of the best services I have ever had work on my house. We had a very old 80s style linoleum floor in our kitchen/bathroom/backdoor entry way. Chris came over and gave a very reasonable estimate. He was very responsive and helpful in planning out the project. Kevin and Joe did the removal and installation. They were very meticulous and hard working. Great guys to have at your house! They even came back on a Saturday to wrap up some of the details. I would recommend CK Tile and Stone to anyone who is looking for a great business to do your tile work. THANK YOU!

I called and spoke to Chris at CK Tile and Stone last week and scheduled a kitchen floor tear out and tiling estimate for 3:30 PM on Friday, August 31, 2015. Chris called me Friday afternoon and asked me if he could come earlier than the time we had scheduled, because he said that he just finished up a job and could come early. I told him that was fine. Approximately a half hour later Chris called me again and said that his Company likes to give people a ballpark estimate over the phone, because he explained that some people get scared away when they hear the price and don't want either of us to waste each other's time. This I found to be strange and a crappy way to do business. I explained to Chris what the job will entail (a tear out and porcelain tile installation of 142 square feet of floor space) and measured and provided him with the total square footage of my kitchen floor space. After I did his response was: "Well, we usually charge $10.00 a [square] foot." This I also found to be strange, because why would he ask me for job details to give me a canned response in reply, when he could have simply told me this when we first spoke? I explained to him that the ballpark estimate did not scare me away and asked him to come and give me the estimate we had arranged. When Chris was at my house giving the estimate I told him that I planned to use a deal I saw on Angie's List, which was for a kitchen floor tear out and tile installation of up to 100 square feet by CK Tile and Stone for $1,000. He commented in reply that when he contacted Angie's List to set up the deal it wasn't supposed to include tear out, but only tile installation. What a crappy way to do business I thought, because, if true, why would you say something like this with a potential customer? Chris did not provide the estimate while at our house, but instead wrote down my email address and said he would email it to me later in the day, or on Saturday. I expected to receive the estimate on Friday after he left. It did not come. I sent a courtesy email to the Company's email address on Saturday to remind him that I'm waiting for the estimate. It still did not come. I sent him a text on Sunday to remind him again that I'm waiting for the estimate. It still did not come. I called him twice from my cell phone on Monday to find out what the delay is. Both times he did not answer. We called him from the land line house phone yesterday (Tuesday). This time he answered the phone and gave the excuse that he's been busy and hasn't had time to send us the estimate. Today is Wednesday. I still have not received the estimate. I will never do business with CK tile and Stone and highly recommend that you don't do business with them either.

Called CK Tile and Stone in the morning and Chris answered. I would assume that it was Chris the owner of the company. I told him that I had a relatively small job and asked him if he was interested. He said yes and that he would call me back in a half and hour. At 5:00 I hadn't heard from him so I tried him on my way home from work. No answer. Tried him again on Friday the 24th and no answer. I decided to watch some Youtube videos and did the work myself. Worked out awesome so a win for me a loss for CK. I would not recommend anyone that can't at least call you back.

The work was very well done, we are very pleased with the results. Chris worked with us on several options for the tile, even made a sample of concrete as that was an option. Email was a little slow as we communicated the options and price but we were able to work that out for a final tile design and price. The work was done very quickly, we did run into a problem with how the tile was done on one fireplace and they came back immediately to fix the problem. Chris went out of his way to go the the fireplace store to understand how the front facing worked so he could fix the problem. We thought the price was competitive with other bids we received. Finish product is high quality. Work place was well cleaned when they finished.

They were exceptional through the entire process. If you are searching for skilled, talented craftsmen who are very detailed orientated and take pride in doing an outstanding job, then go with CK Tile and Stone. In the beginning I knew what I wanted done but didn't have a clue as to color, style and design of the projects. Chris guided me through with recommendations and also had me meet with a fellow from the Tile Shop to make selections by him determining my preferences. Once here, Kevin and Joe prepped the house wonderfully as to covering carpeted areas and leaving minimum dust residue. These fellows are hard working, professional and most respectful. What impressed me is they take pride in doing an top notch job! Never rushed through and did a most thorough, complete job. What's more they cleaned up really well! Only evidence they were here is the beautiful work they did. I feel like we are living in a brand new home! I would hire them in a second and highly recommend Chris owner of CK Tile and Stone to anyone interested in high quality, professional work done with a most reputable company.

Awesome work. They arrived on time and got the tile up very quickly. They offered constructive suggestions on how to do the job as well as advice on going with a higher quality grout than I had purchased. They left for lunch and actually picked up the better quality grout for me. About an hour later, they returned and grouted the tiles. The backsplash looks great! I also want to comment on the attitude they brought ot the job. These guys are very pleasant and enjoy what they do.

The entire experience with Chris and his crew at CK Tile and Stone was nothing short of exceptional. Chris was extremely responsive and followed through on every commitment he made. The work was impeccable and the team cleaned everything up so well, you wouldn't have known tile work had been performed. They made sure I was comfortable with the layout of the design and grout color and recommended a higher quality grout which would perform better long term. Also impressive to me was when the crew arrived, they mentioned they could smell gas outside the house. I really appreciated them letting me know as I ended up calling the gas company and there in fact was a small leak outside. Overall very pleased--I would not hesitate to use them again and have already recommended them to to friends!

Our house was built in 1999, and at the time we had opted for an inexpensive laminate flooring for our kitchen/dining area & foyer. Over the years, the wear and tear or pets and children had taken its toll on our floor. This is when we found CK Tile & Stone when searching for someone to help us out. We met with Chris, and he helped guide us in the different tile options (stone, porcelain, ceramic, etc) and their various pros and cons. We looked around at various tile shops and found a beautiful porcelain tile that looks very much like slate. Chris helped us decide on a pattern, and we ended up with a great pinwheel like pattern where you have a mix of 12x12 and 6x6 tiles. At this point, everything was handled by Chris. He took care of the measurements, and ordered on our behalf from the tile shop where we had found these particular tiles. The installation took a total of three days. Day 1) tore out the existing laminate, and installed the new backerboard. Day 2) installed the tile with spacers and left it overnight to set. Day 3) grout between the tiles, and cleanup. We were so thoroughly impressed by CK Tile & Stone we will not hesitate to call them up again. We do have some work coming up to redo a couple of bathrooms and they'll be our contractor for certain.

We had already purchased tile at The Tile Shop, Burnsville. Had some difficulty finding an installer to return call for estimates but finally got Chris's contact information. He responded immediately and, because ours was a small job, was able to squeeze us in between bigger jobs. Chris and Kevin arrived on time, worked hard and finished the job in one day. It really completed the look of our new kitchen and we are very happy with the backsplash. Felt it was very worth hiring a professional instead of attempting the job ourselves.
