Customers say: True professional

"Christine is AMAZING. You never feel judged, only validated and supported. She works so fast, has great ideas for organizing everything that makes it easy to access. She takes away all of the hardest parts of having to do these jobs. She helps think for you, sets you up so that sorting, if necessary, is super easy. She will also do all of the sorting for you if that is easier. Which sometimes for me, I needed that. She takes away your donations for you and gives them to wonderful organizations. She helps get private documents shredded safely and securely. I can’t say enough good about her and the work she does. I’m addicted to Christine’s help and don’t want to do projects without her!"

"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

"Ruben the technician was on time and provided great feedback on what he found outside. He then came inside and sprayed both bathrooms for spiders. I would recommend Insight to any of my friend and neighbors. Bugs are no longer an issue at our house."

"We wanted to replace just the kitchen cabinets because they were outdated and we wanted something new.
After talking to Dmitriy, he offered us to get rid of the wall that was standing in between the living room and the kitchen.
One of the best decisions we have made regarding that remodel.
The whole living space right away felt much more open and spacious."

Closets questions, answered by experts

You may need a building permit to add a closet, depending on the size and kind of work required to install it. The most likely scenario requiring a permit involves changing the structure of the house and performing electrical work for closet lighting. A permit can cost between $100 and $450. If you’re installing a smaller reach-in closet, a permit may not be required, but always check with your local municipality and consult a closet designer or builder.

Plywood, MDF (medium-density fiberboard), and solid wood are all popular options for closet shelving. Plywood and solid wood are sturdy and ideal for extended shelves or heavy items. MDF is a budget-friendly choice for light to moderate storage, but it can sag under heavy weight if not adequately supported. Wire shelving is another alternative that allows airflow, making it especially useful in humid spaces such as laundry rooms or basements.

Although you can complete a closet frame in just an afternoon, finishing the entire closet will take a few days to a week. However, that’s still not as much as the average time it takes to remodel a closet, which can take anywhere from several weeks to more than a month. That’s because you also have to consider the time it will take to demolish the existing space, plan a new design, order materials, and actually install it.

You can budget a little less money for how to build a closet with wire shelves than with wood shelves. Some people don’t like the aesthetics that wire shelves provide, though, meaning they’ll gladly spend a little more to add wood shelves to the build. If you decide to buy pre-made wire shelves instead of building custom-sized wood shelves, you’ll be restricted in the closet shelving dimensions you can use.

Closet design services include help designing and laying out your closet for maximum utility, visual appeal, and return on investment. Many closet designers can also include the carpentry required to construct your custom closet. You should speak with your designer beforehand to determine what services are included in the estimate, and prepare to lay out additional funds for materials or labor as needed.
