"These people were amazing! Communication was great and they worked with me and my builder to ensure we had the correct hookups for the lake irrigation system before installation. System works great! We initially thought there was a slight problem with the system and he said he would have someone come out right away the next day. Luckily it worked itself out works great, but just shows their willingness to make any potential issues right if they arise! Would hire again! Will definitely use for maintenance on the system too."

"Very responsive and knowledgeable. Came right out to take care of our irrigation issues when other companies said they werenâ t taking new customers. Vickie is great to work with, and had good solutions for us. I have a new irrigation company! But donâ t tell anyone, I donâ t want Lor Irrigation to get too busy."

"Jed & his crew did an amazingly great job.Started when he said they would and finished the entire project in the 1 day.Next day I was automatically sprinkling my yard.Jed even came back & put some grass seed down in the areas that were pretty dug up.I came back over the entire area w/some additional seed & my lawn today looks marvelous.I can't wait for the HOT July summer weather to see my bright green lawn, instead of the dead & dormant brown lawn I have always had in the past.My neighbors will be jealous.Only problem is 1 of my spray heads continues to run H2O out of it all the time. One of Jeds men came 2 check, but still H2O runs out? Help?"

Lawn Irrigation FAQs, answered by experts

Planting grass from seed requires time to grow before it can handle even light foot traffic. Most varieties require a minimum of three months before you can walk on them regularly. You can expect to wait at least one year before your lawn can hold up to heavy use. Because sod is already established, it can be walked on more quickly than grass planted from seed.

This depends on the type of grass seed, as some types do better in different environmental conditions. Cool-season grasses go dormant during the summer months when the soil temperature exceeds 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Once exposed to regular doses of heat, the germination rates decline, with seedling death not far behind.

As for warm-season seeds, they come from tropical parts of the world and thrive in heat. They actively grow in warm air temperatures between 70 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and they prefer soil temperatures between 65 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Once temperatures dip and frost rolls in, if you don’t store them properly, warm-season grass seeds will die quickly.

Unfortunately, no. Grass seeds need a lot of moisture until they become sprouts, so this is an especially sensitive time. While they'll dry out if they get dehydrated, over-watering creates other problems. The grass seeds don't recover because they can just wash away or even rot, making for low germination rates. The ones that do germinate after being pushed under the soil may start to sprout only to die from lack of sunlight.

Like most plants, the seeds need water, optimal temperature, sunlight, and oxygen. Each variety of grass seed will have slightly different needs—higher or lower temperatures, for instance—so pick one that syncs up with your home’s climate and the time you wish to plant. Take a look at the 10-day forecast to ensure there won’t be a major rainstorm.

If thrown on the ground and left, some Bermuda seeds will sprout on the surface, but you will have a diminished germination rate. It’s best to cultivate the area before spreading the seeds for optimal results. Rake the area first and then evenly distribute the Bermuda seeds. Cover the space with about ¼ inch of soil before watering the area.
