Rather than requiring us to purchase a new unit (which was a bit melted looking) he replaced the cover with one that he had. He is extremely busy, so you will have to wait to get serviced...but it's worth the wait. We used our Home Service Plus from Centerpoint Energy to fix the same problem. They sent out a technician that could barely take the glass off the front. He simply cleaned it and said it was going to be good to go...as it was the best he could do. We have cancelled our Home Service Plus after this...simply calling a specialist saves an enormous amount of money and time. Highly recommend the Fireplace Doctor. After sitting in my driveway for 30-40 minutes (no lie), he finally presented me with a proposed work order. The order included a $99 service charge (even though the problem had already been diagnosed and detailed by the gas company), parts and estimated labor for an additional $375. Fortunately, I know people in the business and called them before signing anything. The parts cost next to nothing (a flex connector and new flare nut) and the job takes 10 minutes or less. Highly irritated that I was still responsible for the $99 service call fee, when it was unnecessary for him to come at all to review what he already knew. Also irritated that I have to go another day without my gas range until a friend can fix it instead. I declined the rest of their inflated parts/labor fees. The technician sat in my driveway for another 10 minutes after leaving my house. Had to justify that 1 hr and 15 minute appointment he just charged me $99 for, I guess!"},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/mn/ham-lake/air-mechanical-inc-reviews-128433.htm"},"position":8},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Aker Doors Inc","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"MN","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Mark K."},"reviewBody":"Other than being one-half hour later (Than service window we were given), Dan did a great job replacing the garage door rollers and inspecting the doors and openers. Gas Fireplace Service reviews from real Angi homeowners in Avon, MN
We had a fireplace cord delivered. Stubby's are professionals. They come when they promise, stack nice wood exactly where you need it, for exactly what they quoted, and then they're on to the next part of their day. What else can anyone wish for!

"It went well. It was wonderful to see a family work together like that father and two sons they got along with. They got the job done. I wanted to pitch in and help myself sometimes just because it's something I used to do. I had to force myself to stand back and just let them do their work. I would absolutely hire them again. It was a pleasure to have them out here. I even cooked them a barbecue one day. It was awesome."

"Many delays mostly due to him accepting other jobs and pushing mine back weeks. 2 week job took 3 months to complete; the job did grow in scope - so 3 weeks might have been reasonable, but... I was probably too nice, but was smart enough to hold back final payment until completed. Super nice man and employees. He is extremely knowledgeable about all things concrete - an expert. Unfortunately he was rushed, had higher value projects come up (mine was $8K), and doesn't provide guarantees. Some of my hearth bricks were damaged during grouting - upsetting to me; admittedly we were chatting while he was working. the garage leaks worse than before - the waterproofing painted on the exterior and interior is flaking and peeling after only one winter (I did not request this, but was already in process when I noticed - he said it would last long) - (it will need wired brushed removal) and the exterior caulking is not preventing leaks - he added expansion joints to floor to prevent other cracks. The basement post work was done to high standards - great job just very messy, poor cleanup. The new steps are holding up well thus far - a little pooling of water on one side of two of the steps - he back filled with concrete debri before the pour of the concrete (seems like that is a common industry practice) - it seemed like an inaccurate estimate concrete order - he used good quality concrete. Some other work done seems to be okay. The biggest issue is organization, lack of prep to have all he needs when he arrives, timing, responsiveness, rushing and lack of follow-up to resolve issues. He was squeezing in my projects between his higher value projects; when we started he wasn't very busy - so things changed. He was trying to maximize outdoor jobs before winter - probably a MN thing for contractors. That's why he didn't complete my indoor stuff till later. He didn't provide a written contract although I asked; I had to insist on a written receipt. I think if I had been a stronger project manager of his work and I had more energy for that, I would hire him again - but that's not really what I want to do. He does need a strong project manager. Very disappointing but kinda, sorta okay. I really wish it was different. Two neighbors had similar experiences. If you want to project manage and work alongside him... you would learn a lot and have fun. That might be a really good and very unique business niche for him."

FAQs for gas fireplace service projects in Avon, MN
The average cost to repair a fireplace is $575. You might pay anywhere from $95 to $2,500, depending on the severity of repairs and the type of fireplace. A typical repair of an igniter can range from $100 to $150. However, if you need to repair your mantel, expect the bill to be anywhere from $500 to $1,200. Wood fireplaces tend to cost more to repair due to specialized labor costs. Electric fireplaces tend to be the most cost-effective to repair, along with gas.
The cost to install a fireplace is $2,440 on average. This cost can range from $150 to $8,000 or more, depending on the type of fireplace, the materials used, and the size.
Electric fireplaces cost around $1,000 to install, and mostly only require wiring installation. Installing a wood fireplace from scratch could cost upwards of $10,000, depending on the foundation needed to support the weight of the fireplace. In addition, gas fireplaces can cost between $2,500 and $10,000.
The cost to remodel your fireplace is $1,200 on average. This cost can range from $400 to $2,000, depending on the extent of work needed.
If you add a hearth to your fireplace, you can expect to pay between $3 and $200per square foot. However, if you're refacing your fireplace, the price tag will depend on your chosen materials. If choosing tile, you can pay between $1 and $50per square foot, depending on the design. Stone is a more expensive material, averaging between $60 and $70 per square foot.
Yes, it can be worth installing a gas fireplace, depending on your home heating needs. The cost to install a gas fireplace can be much lower than the cost to install a comparable wood-burning fireplace. The convenience of starting a fire with the flip of a switch and turning it off just as quickly makes a gas fireplace a big time saver over starting and maintaining a wood-fueled fire. A gas fireplace also does not require ash cleanup or frequent chimney cleaning to remove creosote and other buildup that can lead to chimney fires. Gas fireplaces burn and heat much more cleanly than wood fireplaces.
A gas fireplace insert costs about $3,600 to install, on average. The cost to install a gas log insert ranges from about $700 to $6,500, depending on the size, type of insert, how it works, and heating needs. Gas fireplaces need electrical and gas lines installed properly, so hiring a pro is recommended rather than trying to DIY installation.
