"Kody did a fantastic job. His communication skills, expertise, knowledge of his products, timeliness, job site tidiness and fair pricing were greatly appreciated. He installed a Goodman heat pump system ( heating & air conditioning), Mitsubishi multi zone mini split ( wall unit & recessed ceiling unit), an Aprilaire whole home humidifier, a UV air purification system and surge protection system for whole HVAC system. "I had the old kind of plumbing; so they had to vent it out and everything.  It was a complete plumbing job.  They were great.  I have had them before.  They are here on time and they do things right.  I would recommend them."

"We had just moved into a new house and ran the dishwasher for the first time only to find water seeping out all over the hardwood floors!  We ran one more load just to be sure it was the dishwasher, which it was.  We called two companies for a quote.  I left a message with SOS, but they returned my call probably within 15 minutes.  The gal on the phone was extremely helpful.  She told me what it would cost for the service call and then explained the Angie's List discount, which I had already seen online.  Whereas the other company was scheduling a whole week out, she said they happened to have a serviceman, Cory, who was in a neighboring town and who was finishing his work route early that day, so he had one more opening.  He was at our house within 20 minutes.  He got on the floor and discovered right away that the drain hose was cracked and needed to be replaced.  We approved the repair and he had it up and running, including testing for leaks with the new hose installed, within an hour.  We ran another load tonight and there's no leaking.  Thank you, Cory!"

"Went perfectly. Jake explained what he was doing and tested many things that we hadn’t had done before on our boiler. Gave me good recommendations on how to extend the life of my boiler. Even went above and beyond and caught a few things that I wouldn’t have noticed which will most likely save me money. Highly reccomended."

"They arrived by 8:30 AM and were done mid-afternoon. Both the furnace & A/C were installed but the A/C will need to wait (& accompanying energy company rebate) until next spring for final setup when the weather warms. Note: price below doesn't include rebates and senior discount. Net is ~$5,660."

Install Boiler FAQs, answered by experts

Most propane boilers last 15 to 20 years with regular maintenance and proper care. The lifespan depends on the quality of the unit, proper installation, and the level of maintenance. Investing in annual service can maximize longevity and efficiency. Routine inspections and timely repairs prevent early breakdown, ensuring your boiler heats your home for years to come.

Overall, heating your home with an oil furnace tends to be less expensive than heating your home with an electric heating system. Oil heating systems stay warm for longer periods of time without drawing a constant electrical current to maintain a temperature. Plus, heating oil systems typically have a longer lifespan and lower price tag than their electrical counterparts, resulting in short- and long-term savings.

Yes. In many cases, switching from an old furnace to a high-efficiency boiler can help you save money over time. You can also save money by switching from an electric boiler to a gas boiler, which costs much less compared to the energy bills an electric boil can create. Boilers are often (but not always) more efficient than furnaces, too. Then there are discounts, rebates, and incentives that can help you save on the initial costs.

Boilers are equipped with multiple safety features to ensure safe operation. These include pressure relief valves to prevent overpressure, temperature high-limit switches to avoid overheating, and flame failure safety devices in gas boilers to cut off the gas supply if the flame goes out unexpectedly. Low water cutoffs prevent operation with insufficient water levels, and pressure gauges help monitor pressure levels. Ventilation and flue systems prevent the buildup of harmful gasses. Boilers often feature error code systems for automatic shutdown during malfunctions and gas leak detection for safety. Regular maintenance is crucial to ensure these safety features function correctly.

Hydronic and standard electric baseboard heaters differ in how they operate, their cost, and their performance. Standard convection heaters use electric coils to heat the air directly, while hydronic heaters warm a contained liquid like water or oil, which then radiates heat into the room.

In terms of cost and efficiency, hydronic heaters usually have a higher upfront price but are more energy-efficient and cheaper to run over time. This is because the heated liquid retains warmth, allowing the heater to continue providing heat for a while after the thermostat turns it off. In contrast, electric heaters provide heat more quickly but are less efficient.

Ultimately, the better choice depends on your priorities. If you need a room to heat up fast and have a lower initial budget, an electric heater might be suitable. If long-term energy savings are more important and you don't mind a slower heat-up time, a hydronic heater is likely the better option.
