"Jake B. came to our house to do a full evaluation of our crawlspace. He took measurements of the humidity and moisture levels of our wood which he shared with us along with photos of all of the areas of our crawl space. He did an amazing job showing us the issues with our crawl space, explaining the detrimental effects to our home and health, and presented us a comprehensive solution to encapsulate and insulate our crawl space. I had a list of questions that I didn't even have to ask because Jake had answered all of them during his presentation. He answered the additional questions that I had and shared a number of options for paying for the encapsulation, including one that would give us a discount. I was pleased to hear about the warranties and annual inspections that will provide peace of mind that our crawl space will be dry and mold free, in the years to come, after they have completed the encapsulation. Electricity costs in Hawaii are so high, mostly due to the fact that most of the electricity available to residents is produced using oil that must be shipped in from other places.

There are several types of sink drain stoppers, including pull-out, twist-and-pull, and pop-up. Pull-out sink stoppers can be removed by pulling on the stopper until it comes out of the drain. A twist-and-pull design requires lifting then turning the stopper to lock it in an open position and the opposite action (turning, then pressing down) to close it. A pop-up sink stopper works by pushing down the drain cover to open or close the passageway. 

It will take between three and five days to complete this project. Plumbing a bathroom is not an easy job. The process of roughing in the plumbing and installing all the fixtures takes a fair amount of time. Take your time and make sure you do the job right or you could end up with costly leaks.

If you want to avoid using a snake to unclog a drain, or if you don’t have one, try vinegar and baking soda. Pour 1 cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by 1 cup of white vinegar. Wait for 15 minutes, and then run hot water (but not boiling water) down the drain to see if the clog is clear. Repeat multiple times as needed.

In general, PVC (polyvinyl chloride), PEX (polyethylene), and copper are the three piping materials used in new constructions when adding water supply lines. There are some caveats. PEX and copper are considered ideal when running lines that will handle hot water because they are not at risk for melting and warping the way that PVC piping can. At $0.40 to $4 per linear foot, PEX is considered more affordable than copper pipes, which cost $2 to $12 per linear foot. PVC is considered appropriate in water lines for cold taps only.
