Small jobs welcome

"Chris came right on time. I needed sod laid to patch my front lawn after a cement driveway was installed. He was professional, efficient, pleasant and prompt. I am extremely pleased with his superb work. I would recommend Weiss LLC for any lawn service needs you gave. The owner, Laura Weiss contacted me immediately and kept in contact with me to let me know who and when the work would be completed. She was professional, kind and friendly. Wonderful lady, wonderful business!!"

"Ryan and Danielle responded quickly to my inquiry and came out right away to pro ide a quote for clean up of a perennial garden area, planting of approx 25 plants I had purchased and then putting down mulch. The team was scheduled the next week and the garden looks phenomenal! The team arrived on time, did a beautiful job and left the area spotless. Am very happy with their work"

Small jobs welcome

Hello,\nI'm Dunk from Dunk's Landscaping. I am a highly trained professional landscaper that uses low overhead and no labor cost by doing 100% of the work myself and purchasing my equipment in cash. This allows me to make a higher margin on my services than a corporate company with monthly payments and employee wages and therefore allows me to offer the same services as a major company at a fraction of the price. When you go with Dunks Landscaping, you get Dunk himself doing the work, who guarantees your satisfaction, and not a bunch of disgruntled or poorly paid employees who hate their jobs and are pressured to do the job as fast as they can in order to make a profit. I always make sure the job is done right and up to your standards! I look forward to hearing from you!

Lawn Care questions, answered by experts

In general, cool-season grasses such as fescue grass, ryegrass, and Kentucky bluegrass are best for creating a striped lawn. Warm-season grasses like bermuda and zoysia grass don't curl as much, so grass stripes aren't as easy to see. If you live in a climate that’s better suited for warm-season grass, zoysia grass will typically be your best option.

If you accidentally watered your grass too much during the winter months, try aerating your lawn to encourage absorption of the water into the soil and improve drainage. Dethatching your lawn can also help the solid recover from overwatering and encourage healthy root and stalk health in your grass.

Mowing at least once a week during the growing season is a good general rule. However, every lawn is different, and factors like frequent rain and fertilizer use can cause grass to grow faster, potentially requiring mowing as often as every four days. When you mow, always follow the 'one-third rule': never cut more than one-third of the grass blade's height at once, as this can weaken it and prevent it from taking in proper nutrients. For most grass types, the ideal height is around 2 to 3 inches, though some warm-weather grasses do better when kept shorter at about 1.5 to 2 inches.

The American ideal of a large, perfectly-manicured lawn is tied to the post-World War II suburban housing boom. In the decades that followed, technological advances made self-propelled mowers more affordable and plentiful. Many Americans came to see reel mowers as old-fashioned, inconvenient, and time-consuming, and they eventually fell out of fashion.

Implement overseeding and fertilization to maximize aeration benefits and strengthen your lawn.
