If you have a smooth, already bonded concrete surface, painting a concrete pool deck can be a great way to brighten up the area and add longevity. Baseboard heater colors are subjective to the person painting them. Typically, baseboard heaters and trim are white, but it’s not to everyone’s taste. Lighter shades like gray and beige also work and offer contrast. If you want to hide them, paint your baseboard heater covers to match the walls so they simply blend in.

Satin paint is better for high-traffic spaces that need to hold up to a lot of cleaning. It’s also best for spaces where walls are free of imperfections since the light reflecting off a glossy satin finish will highlight them even more. On the other end of the spectrum, think of flat paint for walls with dents or divots you want to conceal. Since flat paint isn’t as strong as satin paint, it’s not great for spaces that need a lot of cleaning.

In many cases, you can sleep in a room painted with low-VOC paint on the same day you painted it. You’ll want to give it at least 10 hours to allow any lingering chemicals to dissipate. However, it can still have an odor for about a day after painting, so you may want to add extra ventilation or adjust your sleeping arrangements if you’re particularly sensitive. 

No-VOC paint is generally odorless and won’t emit toxic chemicals, so it’s even safer and more comfortable to sleep near after a fresh paint job.

Waterproof paint creates a barrier to hold back moisture, but it doesn’t eliminate the source of the water. If you hire a basement waterproofing contractor, many will tell you that waterproof paint is only a temporary solution. On average, you can expect it to last from six months to two years in a wet basement before deteriorating.
