"Jay does amazing work down to fine detail and listens to what the homeowner wants. Our home was big project (drywall repairs, paint walls, trim, and ceiling) and I am thoroughly impressed by how every edge of every trim and angle is cut precisely. There’s no paint bleeding from the trim to the wall, from the wall to the ceiling, from the trim to the floor. The ceilings have no roller lines left over. Every trim nail is punched and every crack and crevice is caulked. People who think they can paint their own house aren’t going to take all of this work and time into consideration. All I had to do was choose colors and finishes and he did the rest with great hustle and attitude. Well worth it & will definitely be going with High Standards Drywall LLC from now on."

"Mr. Kevin, Catano's owner, is a very customer oriented gentleman. He asked key questions of me while conducting his measurements of my basement. Mr. Kevin told me that his company was there to make my basement livable and ready to painted; he said that he wanted to make me 100% satisfied with his company 's work. His company succeeded and I am excited about getting the basement painted now and the floor done. The crew and Mr. Kevin were punctual everyday they were scheduled to work. Mr. Kevin was in constant contact with me throughout the entire process. Catano Carpentry cleaned up after themselves and the entire crew were very pleasant. I have already referred them to one of my close friends."

"Was very pleased with the service. He was on time and respectful. I appreciated that he took the time to point out some cracks that needed attention on the chimney, and showed me how to do it myself. He was honest about how often the sweeping should be performed. It is clear that he cares about his customers and isn't there to rip them off. He even explained how to do the service myself if I wanted to.

"Great! I've been wanting to replace my popcorn ceiling for years. So many people told me what a mess it would be with drywall dust and such. John and his crew were prompt, professional and did a great job. Minimal drywall dust and a great clean up job. They emailed ahead to confirm dates and times and responded to all questions and concerns. I would definitely use them again."

Popcorn Ceilings questions, answered by experts

After removing any type of skylight, you have a few options for the ceiling. You can patch and repair the ceiling to match the surrounding area, ensuring a smooth and seamless finish. Alternatively, you can install a light fixture or a ceiling fan in place of the skylight to maintain functionality and enhance the room's lighting and ventilation. Ultimately, the choice depends on your preferences and the specific requirements of the space. No matter what you choose, you’ll probably want to call in a pro to help.

Some pros may recommend covering a popcorn ceiling that tests positive for asbestos with beadboard ceiling planks or drywall. The cost to install a beadboard ceiling averages more than $5,000, but you likely will pay more than the average for the installer to deal with the asbestos safely. Installing a beadboard ceiling or new drywall will disturb the asbestos and release some microscopic fibers, so the installer will need to take precautions.

Although texturing walls may not seem like a lengthy project, you’ll need to set aside between one and five days to complete it properly. The exact amount will depend on the scope of your project—one room will take less than a whole-house project. That will give you enough time for tasks that are time-consuming in and of themselves, like taping wall edges, priming the walls and letting them dry fully, and actually applying the texture and top or base paint coats.

It depends on the type of texture you’re adding but yes, you can often use a roller to texturize a ceiling. The roller needs to be able to hold enough medium to create some relief on the ceiling but not so much that gravity will pull it off before it dries. Using a roller with a nap between ½” and ¾” will allow the roller to hold enough material to do the trick.

The cost to repair a ceiling after a water leak can vary, with averages ranging from $419 to $1,359, or $45 to $55 per square foot. Smaller patches may cost around $150. The final price depends on the size of the affected area and the extent of the damage. Remember that you will also need to repair the source of the leak, such as roof damage or a plumbing issue, which can cost an additional $200 to $1,550. Depending on the situation, you might also face costs for repainting or repairing floors. For an accurate estimate, it is best to get a quote from a professional.
