Small jobs welcome

"They did a really good job and they stand behind their work. The prices are competitive and they take pride in their work. I had a really old front door that was not insulated and they put in a new one with plenty of insulation. They also put in a new storm door and a garage side door that meant making a new doorway that's sealed properly. They answered all my questions and were respectful of the property"

"I had rotted trim and shutters repaired and painted along with our garage door. Tim’s company did excellent work, were very friendly, finished in a good time and at a reasonable price. Having him quote more projects as we speak. Would definitely recommend."

"We had Adam and his team replace our deck, they did a great job. They were very professional and always let us know if they would be delayed (because of the weather). We would highly recommend them to anyone wanting a deck replaced."

"Beyond expectations. I needed a deck removed, patio in and landscaping in front and back. Jason is a talented designer. It's like he could read my mind. He and his crew were very professional, cleaned up before they left each day, and delivered what was expected. I had rotting wood on my house and they took care of that for me too. Highly recommend if you want a job done well and right!"

"Was a bit disappointed. 1. I was looking for a team that never showed up. 2. It was discussed that I wanted to use oil base paint on my wooded deck, because my old paint peel so bad. So I kindly explain that to Zachariah, that I wanted it to last because I cant keep paying for this. 3. He gave me one can of paint for me to hold on to until he could start the next day. I explain again I wanted oil base paint on my front porch. He ignored me and used the 19.00 enamel premium water base paint for wood and cement. 4. He didn't use two coats as he first said. He went back and spot painted places he missed. 5. He changed the price saying he missed an area he didn't see after he went around my whole house. I believe cause his team didn't show up or never had one. 6. Each time I mentioned what he said from the beginning. He became arguementive saying all what he was doing for me. Like he was doing extra, when he wasn't. I felt like I was being used. ??"

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

While the terms deck and porch are often used interchangeably, they are two distinct structures. A porch is a covered structure, usually attached to the front of a home, that offers protection from the elements. In contrast, a deck is an open, uncovered platform, often attached to the back or side of a home. Because porches have a roof, they typically require less maintenance than decks, but both features need regular cleaning and repairs to stay in good condition.

The least expensive way to build a pool deck is with concrete deck blocks, pressure-treated lumber, and the appropriate hardware for hanging joists and securing deck boards. With these basic yet durable deck materials, you'll have a pool deck that's built to last without the high price tag. You should also stain or seal the deck to protect it against the elements.

There are approximately 5.33 board feet in a 2x4. You can use the board foot calculator in this article to easily find the answer. A 2x4 is 2 inches of thickness by 4 inches of width, so you need to find the length, with 8 feet being the most common. You’d use the calculator here to multiply 2 times 4 times 8, and then divide by 12, arriving at a total of 5.33 board feet.

The overhang, or nosing, of deck steps is another area that will be covered in building code requirements. The noses on your deck steps should have a minimum overhang of ¾ inch. For safety, usability, and code compliance, the nosing of deck steps should not extend past 1¼ inches.

Deck boards should be spaced no more than three-eighths of an inch apart. This is enough space to allow water and small debris to pass through without collecting on the surface, but not enough to create a tripping hazard. Certain materials, like pressure-treated wood, shrink over time, so they may need less space at installation.
