SKM sent Jon, he did a great job of installing new bathroom exhast fan and vent out of roof. He was professional and friendly. The quality of the work was fantastic. The job was completed on time and to my satisfaction. I'd recommend SKM and Jon for your handyman jobs of this type. Thanks guys!

0/5 stars. Do NOT work with SKM. The lack of professionalism, communication, and accountability was abhorrent. We do not want anyone going through the same experience we went through, so we are taking the time to write out our experience. We found SKM online and reached out to schedule a quote for some house projects. Estimator came out and gave a quote (replacing laundry basin/faucets, repairing broken kitchen drawer, fixing garbage disposal that keeps malfunctioning, adding whole house surge protector, exterior door painting, etc.) and stated that all materials could be purchased day of, which we agreed to and were then added to the schedule. He informed us that it would be a "team" and that they complete the job before moving to a different job. The next day, we had questions because the invoice did not list all of the specifics of what we discussed (for instance--clarifying that replacing the laundry room sink included the basin, both faucets, main and for the osmosis spigot), so we clarified with office staff and made sure it was updated, which they said they sent back to estimator and said that he approved. Two-ish weeks later we called to have two additional items estimated (painting living room and investigating low water pressure) and asked to speak with the estimator so that we could add these to the project, since they would be coming out soon any way. Estimator did not follow up with multiple attempts and office staff said they could not reach estimator so instead scheduled an appointment for him to return to the home. Estimator missed arrival window because he was sitting in front of our neighbor's home (in his car, on the phone) for over an hour. He then drove away, so we called office who said they would reach out to him and he arrived 45 minutes later, saying he had the incorrect address. He provided the quote for two items and said they could be added to current project. We asked if any materials needed to be ordered in advance and he informed us that everything will be purchased at the time the project starts and that they will not move forward to another project until ours is completed. We called the office and confirmed we wanted to add just one (investigating low water pressure) of the new estimates added. We were told that the projects/invoiced could be combined. The day of the project, Friday 9/27, arrives and no one shows up for the 2 hour window, 8-10am. We call the office and 2ish hours later they return our call and say that the project team will be unable to come today, since they are working on a different project, and that they want to reschedule for the following day, Saturday. We have family in town over the weekend and say that we can't be around all day Saturday due to previously scheduled commitments and ask if we can have part of the team (a plumber) come Saturday and the rest come on Monday. Office staff says they will reach out to owner to ask. They report that he says this is not a possibility, so we agree to Monday morning, first thing. Given all the repeated confusion and miscommunication, we ask to have the owner call us so that we can make sure we have the right people arriving on Monday. The owner never calls. Saturday morning we receive multiple texts from a single contractor saying that he wants to arrive today (Saturday) because he really needs this job and can handle everything on the invoice and do it all by 6pm. We reluctantly agree, since we want the plumbing job done, and move our schedule around so that he can take the job. He arrives late morning, takes measurements and asks questions, he then heads to purchase items. He is gone for a few hours, while we wait at home, and then reaches out and says that he can't find anything that meet the measurements and specifics (as stated and reviewed in the invoice) that we need for the materials. He says that these kinds of items should have been pre-ordered and there in advance. He states that he was never aware of any plumbing concerns (invoices never combined) and that he is not a certified technician and can't do the items listed on the invoice, such as the whole house surge protector. He shares that he has been repeatedly trying to reach out to the owner throughout the afternoon and that the owner is not responding to any of his attempts at communication. Remember, the owner never called us back either. Monday morning, 8:30am, rolls around, which was the "new" scheduled arrival time for the SKM team and no one shows up. We call the office multiple times and there is no answer until 9:45am when we are told that "the owner needs to get involved". The office states that the project was "abandoned" and that they only had that single contractor (from Saturday) on the project. And they are not sure when a team can come out. It is now 10/7 and we have not heard from the owner/office and our project remains incomplete, although they have our deposit. The lack of communication and professionalism was astounding, hence this review. Again, I urge you to reconsider using SKM for your project. Mistakes happen, things come up, and everyone has a bad day, but this was not that. This was repeated incompetence and a total disregard of accountability/ownership by SKM management.

SKM sent Eric and his work partner Rick to us. They did a great job of tearing off and replacing the old rotted flooring of our front porch while leaving the solid existing railings in place. They also did a fine job of downsizing and re-leveling our old patio making it more manageable for us. This included leveling the ground around the patio so water won't collect and freeze there in the winter. The worksite was clean and all scrap material was bagged and ready to be placed at the curb at the end of each workday. I'd recommend SKM and both Eric and Rick for your handyman jobs of this type. Sean and his partner were great. They were professional and friendly. The quality of the work was fantastic. The job was completed on time and to my complete satisfaction. They cleaned up like they were never there.

Mark installed 3 exhaust fans in our main bathroom, 1/2 bathroom, and kitchen. Everything was completed as expected. Mark’s father also helped with some small drywall work after the exhaust fans installation. Both were very thorough, professional, and explained all the steps along the way.

Patrick arrived right on time, and communicated with me throughout the whole process. He explained the issue, answered all my questions, and fixed the problem very quickly! As a landlord, I appreciate when I can trust the techs are doing quality work and communicating with me when I can’t be on site - Patrick certainly lived up to that expectation!

Damian was very versatile and business-like. He did everything professionally, communicated well, listened to our preferences and cleaned up thoroughly. We couldn't have wished for a better person for our diverse requirements. We only had one glitch. Upon our 50% down payment SKM arranged a date and said work should start then between 8:00 & 10:00am - unless we received a call to the contrary. We called the office before 9:00 on the day to confirm it was still on (it was), then again around 1:30pm when no one had appeared (we had to leave a message). Shortly after that Damian called to say, due to another urgent job, he couldn't start until the next day. But he then put long hours in and completed all the painting (two coats) & light fittings' work in one day. He came back immediately after the Holiday and did the extractor fan in half a day. We're very happy with everything. But we recommend calling a couple of times just prior to the start to re-confirm the schedule is still on.

Talrius did an amazing job. He was met with a couple of challenges which he handled to perfection. Very pleased with the steps and railing he installed. Gotten several compliments already.

I contacted ANGI for a referral for a handyman to install porch railings around my mother's porch. SKM Property Maintenance agreed to do the job, labor and materials included for $350. My mother gave them a downpayment of $175, which they required. On the day of installation, they were a no call no show. Then Doug King, the manager of this business, informed my mother that the price for the job was really $850, and that the $350 was the labor cost only. That's not what the contract states. I spoke to Mr. King and told him to refund my mother's money ASAP. She is a senior citizen on a limited income and they are trying to take advantage of her. I would never recommend this company to anyone. ANGI should remove them from their listings. I would give them 0 stars if allowed.

I contacted SKM Property Maintenance thru Angi. Received an immediate response, followed by a visit to survey the work and dates were set up. Mark was dispatched to do the work and I can’t say enough good things about him. He was very professional, with an eye for detail. He attacked the project, keeping me informed on the progress and timelines. He assured me how much longer my deck would last because of the materials he was using. He also secured some railing that were loose. I was extremely impressed by his deamenor, professionalism and friendliness. I would welcome Mark to do any project in my home. Thank you Mark!

Tom did an excellent job repairing and installing drywall in my basement! He carried out the task exactly as requested, and the basement looks great. Tom was communicative and friendly throughout the entire process. I would definitely hire him again.
