The leveling went well and I am satisfied with the work done there. The foundation repair is another story. When the workers filled in the hole around the foundation wall it was not done properly and now my steps are uneven. Also the crew left clumps of sod on my grass and did a poor job with...

My wife and I have been working with Mayberry for about 12 years. We talked with an amazing women named Jodie for our build. She was extremely patient and kind. We met with her a lot over those 12 years and never did she push us to build when we were not ready too. It did take that long for...

Mike provided quality work, visited and inspected work onsite as our home was being built almost daily. Addressed questions promptly, assisted us in making decisions with selections, easy to get ahold of, genuinely cared about customer satisfaction. His crew was always polite and respectful....

I can not say enough good things about the job they did. Michael came out, took a look at the project and designed the deck and stairs from the deck into an area of the yard that I wanted to fence in. After all the plans were made, the township building inspector would not issue a building...

I think as he doesnt have an architect on staff, that he should invest in a design software package that would remind him to include light switches, clearance between cabinets and appliances etc. I was very pleased with the quality of the work. Mike and his crew were very nice, willing to...

I started using Jon Long with another builder, and when I had additional jobs, chose to use him by himself. He is very hard working, responsive, detail oriented, and helpful. I will use him should I have additional projects. My neighbors have complimented many of his projects.

The overall process of building our home went exceptionally well. We dealt with Mr. Palmer since 1995 when he put an addition on our old home. We were so satisfied with Mr. Palmer that we never looked at different builders when we decided to build. We presented Mr. Palmer with our ideas...

"I hired JLM Home Solutions to install all my interior doors and closets including frames/casings in my upstairs. Jason was a horrible person the entire time I hired him. He acted like a nice person just to get hired. I regret hiring him. Unfortunately I had signed a contract by the time I found out he was no good. Every time I brought up something that was not done right, he’d yell and raise his voice at me. He’s very rude and unprofessional with the worst customer service. He was rude on text, rude on phone and rude in person. Jared, I guess one of his employees was a great person, very polite and did an amazing job. He worked on the project in a professional manner. He didn’t come back though to finish the project because Jason sent another person instead, David, who did an awful job. Jason didn’t want to hear it that David’s work was not the greatest. I had to put a stop payment after I found out one of the closet doors wasn’t installed right and other things that were wrong. Jason got so upset that he had to come back to fix the problem after I told him I didn’t want David. Jason came to my house but failed to fix the problem still. Instead he made me feel threatened in my own house. He was all in my face yelling at me saying nothing was wrong with the closet. Even my little dog was scared. I had to call my daughter and son to come over because I was so terrified that he was maybe going to hurt me. I stayed on the phone all the time while he was there so someone could hear his abusive behavior. That day after Jason left, I had to get a second opinion on the closet. Another contractor couldn’t believe the way the closet was installed and for Jason to insist it was okay. He left the old frame on and didn’t want to here when I mentioned it. I’ll have this closet removed and a new one with new frame installed the right way. I had to insist Jason deduct some money for that closet from the balance owed to him. A couple of days later, I noticed my kitchen door they installed still had cracks on the inside frame close to the lock. I had mentioned that to him. I texted him to let him know with pictures showing the cracks. Now Jason won’t respond to my text, email or phone. I asked him to send one of his guys to fix the door. Not him because I don’t want him around me. I’ve tried everything to get to him. I know he’s ignoring me. I paid him so much money for this project. If I don’t hear from him I’ll have no choice but to file small claims. He cannot leave my door like that after I paid him so much money and thinks he can just get away with it. If there was an option of zero stars, that’s what I’d have given JLM."

FAQs for pole barn building projects in Springport, MI
Generally, general contractors charge between $50 and $150 hourly, though not every contractor charges by the hour. If charging based on the project, you can expect a markup of 10% to 20% of the construction cost. You can expect to pay between $300 and $500 daily if charged by the day.
General contractors are the ones that coordinate home construction projects. They are in charge of the day-to-day oversight of the subcontractors to ensure that the project is completed on time and to resolve problems as they arise. General contractors:
Complete pre-construction planning, both with the customer and crew
Provide realistic cost estimates
Develop construction timelines
Ensure deadlines are met
Acquire permits as needed
Purchase supplies and materials
While city and state laws vary on general contractor licensing requirements, hiring an unlicensed general contractor could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines for your area.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
