"I have a 116 year old Victorian that I purchased 10 years ago and have essentially rebuilt from the lawn and driveway all the way to the roof.  Originally contacted for an insurance repair, Jay and his team have responded to all my very detailed and demanding needs and wants - specifically making a 116 year old home look both new and old at the same time, preserving the integrity of the home while modernizing the foundations (walls, ceilings, chimneys, etc...), and to always, always leave all repairs camouflaged into the history of the structure.  The recent project required a rebuild in the foyer, including a very detailed paneled staircase and balcony that was turned into a closet roughly 40 years ago.  This project requires both structural knowledge and creativity, and a lot of patience when handed a picture and being told "Make this look like that."  But he delivers and allows me to work with them (which is probably really annoying) and ask a lot of questions to learn and further my own skills.  Further, I am the queen of "add-ons" and while some of these are small it has also happened that one was an entire exterior wall.  Jay always offers options and thoroughly discusses these options and is open and honest about his professional opinions and experiences.  Of course some repairs have required reworking, although not many, and Jay did not give up until I was completely satisfied with the end-result.

I have four more rooms to finish in this house - and I will call Nyboer builders for these rooms too.  Even though Jay loves to remind me that he could have built me a brand new house for what I have invested in this one, he knows I love this house and he treats the work in that exact fashion.

"Since my previous review of DNA I've kept employing Derek Esterline and his associates over and over again, as there's no end of things that need to be repaired/updated/replaced, etc, after thirty-some years of "deferred maintenance." Derek has recently taken on a new partner, John Wright, and I wanted to update my review with a note about how expertly he has fit into the business. John is conscientious, industrious, and a very quick study who appreciates the high levels of skill and experience Derek has to impart. Recently they've given my barn a complete makeover, replacing shoddy roofing, broken windows, siding and hardware as necessary, and power-washing and painting the exterior and trim so that it now looks like something you might find in Martha Stewart's back pasture. They've cleaned up severe storm damage, carefully taking down a huge maple limb that had been weakened and left hanging perilously over the road by gale-force winds. In addition, John's in charge of the bookkeeping chores, cheerfully and diligently dealing with all the paperwork. That he's also an extraordinarily kind person is not necessarily relevant to a review like this, but to the extent that it speaks to a person's character I'll throw that in as well. (I've been so touched by the way he makes sure my very old, blind, dog gets his share of attention and doggie treats.) As far as I'm concerned, Derek and John are the Hallmark Cards of the repair business--for "when you care enough to hire the very best.""

His crew painted a full house interior with clean cut lines, and two coats, in four days. he then led a walkthrough and created a punch list to complete any areas needing extra paint. He patched walls and painted the trim. And finally, he painted the cabinets in the kitchen as well. "Matt took care of several small projects the first day and will be returning for several bigger fixes. He did an excellent job on the small stuff and I am looking forward to having him complete several bigger repairs once the materials are delivered.(Any delay is on my end.) He reviewed the upcoming projects thoroughly and gave me reasonable cost estimates. He will be repairing some damaged basement paneling from the 70s, replacing a lot of basement ceiling tiles from the same era, and installing new kitchen ceiling lighting.
