For over 40 years Doty Mechanical has been providing quality heating and cooling installation, maintenance and repair service to the Lansing area. As Lansing's only locally owned and operated Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer, Doty Mechanical is committed to Lansing and the people that live here. We are dedicated to offering the exceptional service our customers deserve. That is why our technicians are NATE Certified (which goes way beyond being factory trained). We can repair your furnace or air conditioner regardless of brand, or if you are ready to purchase a new one, we will happily provide you with a FREE ESTIMATE! Our customers are a huge part of our past and, more importantly, our future success. If you are new to Doty Mechanical again we say welcome, if you are a current customer we thank you for your continued patronage.

"I hired Doty to repair a vent pipe. The work was completed. I have asked several times for a detailed invoice of the work performed and equipment that was rented to complete the work and have yet to receive that invoice or even a call to discuss the issue. I believe that they overcharged me for a piece of equipment that they not even use to complete the work. They also damaged my yard while attempting to use this equipment and never once have I been contacted by a manger as I requested. Their customer service is terrible and I would not recommend them to anyone!"

20+ yrs experience. Professional, quiet, clean, and affordable on all jobs. I have the manpower and equipment for all residential and commercial jobs. Indoor, outdoor, lawns, landscape, gutters, paint, wash houses/decks, paint inside and outside, Install, remove, you name it

"I couldn’t be more impressed with the outstanding job Ragstar Contractors did assembling our Gazebo. Despite the subpar instructions and the overwhelming number of parts, their team showed incredible patience, professionalism, and craftsmanship. They were able to piece everything together flawlessly, and the final result looks absolutely amazing. Their attention to detail and commitment to getting the job done right truly set them apart. I highly recommend Ragstar Contractors for any assembly or installation projects — they exceeded all expectations!"

Heating Oil questions, answered by experts

An evaporator or swamp cooler is a common alternative for small spaces. These coolers blow moist air into a space to help cool it down. They are more affordable than misters and use much less water. However, coolers will not have the same cooling effect as misters, cannot help plants survive the heat, and only reach a small area.

Regular inspections, loop flushing, and checking heat exchangers help extend system lifespan.

There are several common types of HVAC systems that you may have, including split systems, hybrid HVAC, duct-free systems, packaged heating and air, geothermal heating, or even portable units for heating or cooling. If you aren’t sure which type is in your home or are looking to install something different, you should consult an HVAC pro to determine which option is right for your heating and cooling needs.

Yes, many providers offer organic or eco-friendly treatments. Confirm availability with your contractor.

You need to service an HVAC system about twice per year, with a service including an inspection and basic maintenance. It’s best to schedule maintenance in the spring (after the furnace has been running and before the AC kicks on) and in the fall (after the AC worked hard all summer and before winter’s first chill arrives).

Regular HVAC services will keep the system working as efficiently as possible, saving you money on utilities and larger repairs. HVAC maintenance costs around $250 per visit, while bigger repairs from forgotten upkeep could cost thousands.
