"Sentri Homes provided the most professional flooring service I’ve ever had. The LVP installation turned out absolutely beautiful, and I was amazed at how quickly everything was completed without sacrificing quality. The crew was fast, accurate, and extremely detail-oriented from start to finish. Everything was installed cleanly, precisely, and with real craftsmanship. The entire process was smooth, efficient, and far beyond what I expected. I would absolutely recommend Sentri Homes to anyone needing flooring installed."

"The technician did an excellent job. It did take a while to get the repair finished, but that was due to Bertazzoni delivering the parts. I have had multiple problems with this particular appliance. My range now works better than it did when new, but I have a feeling that even if I have continuing problems with it, American Home Shield will just repair rather than replace due to the cost of the range. By the way, I'm not exactly sure of the date of the repair."

Custom Home Builders questions, answered by experts

A consistent seasonal inspection routine protects your home building investments from MI weather extremes. In the fall, clean your gutters and confirm your sump pump operates correctly before the ground freezes. During winter, monitor your roofline for ice dams and check unheated spaces for freezing pipes. Inspect your foundation walls for water infiltration after the spring snowmelt. Finally, assess your exterior wood elements for moisture damage during the humid summer months.

Helpful?

When planning home building, you must verify local setback rules, as non-conforming lots in Port Huron restrict buildable areas. Size your drainage infrastructure slightly above minimum requirements to handle future stormwater needs. You should also consult with local authorities about water and sewer capacity early on. Building the original structure with finished floor elevations above base flood levels provides flexibility for future work without triggering complicated re-permitting.

Helpful?

When planning home building projects, account for your proximity to local waterways, which brings high water tables and strict flood zone regulations. You must also design structural elements like roofs and decks to handle heavy lake-effect snow loads. Factor permit review timelines into your project schedule, especially during the busy spring and summer seasons. Finally, consult local professionals to safely address potential lead or asbestos hazards in older Port Huron properties.

Helpful?

Home building requirements shift significantly as your property ages. In the first decade, focus on basic maintenance and energy efficiency improvements. Between ten and twenty-five years, replace aging roofing systems and upgrade outdated electrical wiring. As a home reaches fifty years in Port Huron, you must address major system replacements, including plumbing and structural repairs. For older historic properties, secure approval from local commissions before making any exterior alterations.

Helpful?

The clearest indicator of quality home building is a complete permit and inspection record on file with local authorities. Verify that your project complies with state residential codes, including proper egress window sizing and correct insulation values for MI climate zones. Properly executed foundation work will feature footings dug below the frost line with adequate drainage. Always hire licensed professionals to guarantee accountability and adherence to all building standards.
