"Don is a real gentleman. He is old school and a class act! His crew is very professional and their attention to detail is bar none, the best I have seen in many decades! Don reviewed what needed to be done in very specific terms and executed the project exactly as he described it. Other aspects of his scope of work was wood repair, deck restoration, chimney restoration and flashing repairs, interior painting and water damage restoration. All were executed flawlessly! I highly recommend Don and have already booked him to do more work on my older cottage on Torch Lake. Thank you Don!"

"A great experience! We had our entire interior painted by Chris’s employees, Brandon, Tim and Magnus. These guys were fantastic and treated our property with respect. Just great work! I would highly recommend Adams Painting to anyone as they do all kinds of painting and staining. Check out their webpage! Susan Belanger"

"They did an incredible job washing my home and windows. Took 10 years off the age. 3 story home and the price was very reasonable. Can't recommend them enough"

"High Impact Painting power washed our home then filled all the woodpecker holes. Then two days later they paint brushed, rolled and sprayed the wooden exteriors. Our decks and windows were covered before they started their paint process. There was no mess and a full crew finished the job in six hours which included cleaning up the area before they left. My wife and I are extremely happy with the professionalism that Matt, Daniel and crew showed. Hire these people. You'll be surprised!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Whitewashing isn’t permanent, but it can last for a long, long time. When you apply it correctly or have a seasoned pro whitewash your brick, whitewashing can last for 20 to 30 years or longer. Whitewash is very durable and typically requires little maintenance, making it a great project for most DIYers.

Provided conditions are ideal, staining an entire deck should take as little as a couple of hours and up to a couple of days to apply and cure. Additional procedures, like sealing a deck or using additional treatments, may extend the project by a few additional days.

It is not always necessary to remove old stain before restaining a deck. If the previous stain is in good condition and is compatible with the new stain, you may be able to apply a new coat after thorough cleaning. However, if the old stain is in bad condition, flaking, or peeling, it is best to remove it completely to ensure an even surface and proper adhesion for the new coat. Staining over a damaged layer can lead to an uneven finish and poor penetration. For best results, test a small area first and consult the stain manufacturer's guidelines.

Yes, it's a good idea to sand the wall with fine-grit sandpaper after spackling, especially if you plan on painting. You can do this by hand or using a sander, but the idea is to ensure the spackle is flush with the wall. Sanding will give your wall a smooth, uniform finish and help your paint and wallpaper stay put.

Adding a second coat of stain to wood can even out the color to some extent, but it won't drastically alter the hue if the initial application is too light or too dark. It's more effective at enhancing the richness of the color rather than significantly changing it. Ensure the first coat is dry before applying the second.
