"Was a pleasure to work with Rob and his crew. Super professional, knowledgeable, friendly. Although I am submitting this review 2 years late, I am still thrilled with how everything turned out. I've included before/during/after pics."

Small home town business. Numerous sub-contractors available. Whatever needs done can be done. If I can't do it personally I will point you in the direction of other contractors. With over 15 years of exprience in the surrounding areas no job is too small or too big.

I am local builder that uses local employees and sub contractors. I was trained union journeyman carpenter in the Detroit area and moved back to the northern area after about ten years in the city. My company can handle commercial jobs as well as new homes or additions, pole barns, etc. I am also green certified builder and was trained recently as a energy analyst

Inside The Box Design focuses on the concepts of change in re-design, for home makeovers or remodeling. The method is personally tailored to suit each clients individual needs from basic consulting (hourly) to design, drafting and project management of a full scale remodel.

"I was very disappointed with Patti. There were a number of problems with the remodel but two stand out. First she put a corner unit in the design and told me to get a counter depth fridge so it would open. I contacted the fridge person she recommended, picked a fridge and emailed her the specs. Turns out counter depth fridges are still larger than counter depth at least this one was and the corner door does not open properly now. She would not even come to visit to inspect the problem. Once she is paid she washes her hands of the project. Do not pay up front. Refuse. The second problem was that I originally wanted a bamboo cabinet material but that was 20 per cent more expensive so I settled with plain maple. She asked me if I wanted the grain horizonal or longitudinal. I thought horizonal sounded cool. She made a mistake the engineered maple which was 20% more only came in horizontal so when I got my kitchen it was of course engineered maple. I had warned her before she ordered that based on other quotes I got I think she had made a mistake because the kitchen quote should have been cheaper. I implored her to double check her calculations but she did not and when the kitchen came I knew why I was right. She ordered the wrong wood for my kitchen. If I wanted to pay the extra 20% I would have wanted the bamboo. Again no response from her for the mistake. I would not recommend her. The least she could have done was given me a partial refund of what it should have cost me to get the regular grain maple. I did not expect a full refund of the difference because I did get a higher end grain. Although I honestly think that I would have like the regular grain better. This is a conservative area and it would have also been better for resale. Do not recommend her at all."

Duneland Home & Hardware, Inc. Duneland Home Design Center & Showroom, Duneland Home Remodeling... We are different than any other Independent Home Services Company in many ways our business model will save you money from the starting line all the way to the finish line. We start with the materials to do most of your home Improvement or commercial project. Duneland Home is Home Improvement Retailer we own the Showroom, Design Center and The Hardware Store... Most Contractors purchase products from a local retailer, Lumber Yard etc. they purchase the materials and some put an adder on top of the materials cost and pass that on to you. Depending on the project. Duneland Home & Hardware we make our profit on the materials and put a small project management fee on top of the labor cost to help us cover our costs to manage your project, and make sure all the subcontractors are paid on time and make sure your project runs smoothly and is finished in a professional manner and on time. (we call it total transparency) We only use licensed sub-contractors, plumbers, electricians etc. These are the same professionals that we use on every project so we are comfortable working together and they know that we are extremely picky about paying attention to detail. We will provide you with a competitive total cost with no surprises and we do great work.

Closets questions, answered by experts

Building a custom closet costs about $2,000, on average. Because many types, sizes, and designs are available, the cost to build custom closets ranges from $250 to $6,000 or more. A reach-in closet is on the lower end of the price range from about $250 to $1,500, compared to a walk-in closet at $750 to $3,500 or a wardrobe at the high end between $1,500 and $6,000 or more.

You should primarily pack books upright in boxes. But if you are trying to squeeze books into every last space of the box, you can pack sturdy paperback books with their spines down in the box. You can pack large books flat, as they take up more space anyway.

You may need a building permit to add a closet, depending on the size and kind of work required to install it. The most likely scenario requiring a permit involves changing the structure of the house and performing electrical work for closet lighting. A permit can cost between $100 and $450. If you’re installing a smaller reach-in closet, a permit may not be required, but always check with your local municipality and consult a closet designer or builder.

A "reach-in pantry" is a smaller, cabinet-style pantry that allows you to grab items by simply reaching inside. On the other hand, a "walk-in pantry" is like a closet or small room that offers a larger space that you can physically enter to get your food. Walk-in pantries allow for more customizable shelving. A reach-in pantry is usually around 5 feet wide by 2 feet deep, while a walk-in pantry is closer to 5 feet by 5 feet or larger.

The differences between a built-in closet and a walk-in aren’t that different from a built-in wardrobe and a walk-in closet. It’s fairly simple—a walk-in closet is a closet you can physically enter, stand in, and walk around in. A built-in (whether wardrobe or closet) is more akin to covered shelves installed into a recess in the wall. Another big difference is walk-in closets almost always have traditional full-size doors, while built-ins either have no doors or use sliding doors.
