"The craftsmanship was perfect. From tearing out the old floor, cement board installation, tiling and grout- it is flawless. They took great detail and time to cut pieces without piecing as well as every tile was articulately off set. They left each day with the house clean, great communication and amazing work ethic! Highly recommend!!!"

"Matt had to install a ceramic soap dish in a diffiicult place and he did an amazing job. He puled out the broken piece, drilled through masonry and replaced the dish, also some ceramic tiles surrounding the dish. I recommend him highly - he was kind, prompt and hardworking."

"Absolutely EXCELLENT in every way! Highly skilled, professional, and courteous! The crew was efficient, and timely. They paid attention to us and made sure everything was perfect right down to the very last detail. This was the biggest job we have ever had done to our house, and we were a bit nervous because we can be particular at times. They made us feel totally comfortable even as early as the estimate. I can confidently say that you will not find anyone better than Dimambro! We have a few other houses on our street that used Dimambro in the past. Seeing that quality first-hand is what motivated us to knock on their door, ask who did their work, and have our own estimate taken. We love the job they did!!! THANK YOU!!"

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

The best types of tiles for a shower are ceramic and porcelain tiles. These materials are durable, water-resistant, and easy to maintain, making them ideal for wet environments. Porcelain tiles are slightly more durable than ceramic. Both options come in a wide variety of styles, so you can achieve the perfect look for your bathroom.

Grouting hearth tiles is one of the most important steps. It seals the tiles so heat doesn’t transfer under the tiles so easily, which can be dangerous. For this reason, heat-resistant grout is a must. Grout also prevents dust, dirt, and any other material from gathering between your tiles. If this happens and those buildups are flammable, a fire could start between the tiles.

It’s not a good idea to lay tile and grout on the same day. The adhesive or thin-set that sticks the tiles to the surface needs plenty of time to dry before you can grout. Wait for 24 to 48 hours, depending on moisture levels in the space. The tiles can become misaligned and more prone to damage if you don’t wait.

You cannot tile directly over hot mop waterproofing because tile requires a smooth, solid surface to adhere properly. Additionally, the shower bed pan needs to be raised and sloped toward the drain to prevent water from pooling. However, you can hot mop and apply a sloped mortar bed over the top (to which the tile can then be adhered).

The cost depends on the type of natural stone. High-end stones can cost as much as porcelain, but it depends on the specific material. For example, the cost of flagstone pavers is typically $2 to $6 per square foot, which is much more budget-friendly than porcelain. Outdoor slate tile can cost as much as $35 per square foot, which is about the same as porcelain.
