Ive been doing all types of carpentry and landscape for over a year. I want provide local people in need for affordable and reasonable work. I range from all sorts of work. Such as, siding, trim, hanging doors, drywall, power washing, roof repairs, gutter cleaning etc. Along with mowing, mulching, weed whipping, laying bricks, etc. If you have any questions just ask!

"Paul was very honest on the door they offer - a well constructed door with reasonable price. The technicians Jason and Andrew did a very good job leveling the garage door since mine garage floor is not level. They also did very good work hooking up to the old garage door opener, making sure it works. They even replaced two old smaller angle brackets with their new large ones. I also appreciate the subtle things that look trivial but very important such as adjusting the spring forces and tightening lock nuts appropriately etc. The new door looks nice and solid!"

How tall your mulch should be around your tree depends on the type of mulch you use, but aim for 3 to 4 inches as a rule of thumb. You’ll want to avoid simply piling it up in hopes of offering additional benefits to your tree. Volcano mulching is the infamous term for piling way too much mulch against the stem of your tree. This could actually kill your tree or severely harm it, as your tree trunk needs space to breathe without too much moisture.

Stump grindings are usually safe to use in soil, but in some cases, it’s not recommended. Wood chips in particular can bind nitrogen in the soil, which will make it difficult for grass to grow. Large wood chips may attract beetles and could encourage the growth of fungi when they decay, so you may want to remove them when using the grindings.

If you’re mulching in the fall, aim to lay down the material right after the first frost, which will vary by climate. Late October and early November are good time ranges to aim for. Try to lay down your mulch after a light rainfall to lock in moisture for root growth through the winter.

Landscape boulders, especially porous stones like sandstone or granite, can crack or break over time. Cracks occur when water seeps into the surface of the stone and freezes. The risk is highest when it rains during the day and temperatures freeze overnight since the moisture has time to penetrate deeper into the rock before expanding.

The best time to lay mulch depends on the type of mulch and the reason for installing it: 

  • Summer: Adding extra mulch helps soil retain moisture and keeps weeds at bay, allowing plants to thrive. 

  • Fall: Adding mulch helps control weeds and keeps soil and roots warm during the cooler months. Aim to add a layer of mulch 2 to 4 inches deep.

  • Winter: Mulch around perennial plants to help keep them insulated.

  • Spring: Wait until the ground has thawed. Depending on the thickness, add between 1 and 4 inches of mulch to provide freeze and rain protection and enrich the soil.
