"DeWeese & Associates have been flawless. Brett DeWeese came to our home for the quote and he was very professional and had an answer to all of my questions! The customer service is outstanding. Brett has kept me informed every step of the way for our bathroom refresh (x2) and basement renovation (from ceiling to floors). Amazing team and I have already recommended them to my family."

"Sentri Homes provided the most professional flooring service I’ve ever had. The LVP installation turned out absolutely beautiful, and I was amazed at how quickly everything was completed without sacrificing quality. The crew was fast, accurate, and extremely detail-oriented from start to finish. Everything was installed cleanly, precisely, and with real craftsmanship. The entire process was smooth, efficient, and far beyond what I expected. I would absolutely recommend Sentri Homes to anyone needing flooring installed."

"I first contacted Northstarr Builders to find out pricing and information on getting a wood stove installed. I had so many questions about all the options out there and I needed some steering in the right direction. Marty and his team worked to get me the answers and show me all the different ways that what I needed could be accomplished. They worked with me to find out what I required and what I didn't. I live in a small home so space was my biggest requirement! They figured it all out for us and drew up a plan. They ended up building off the back of the house to extend it out so the wood stove insert would fit into the wall and save us our space! Their quality and workmanship speaks for itself! We have a beautiful wood stove now with some wonderful tile work that accents the house nicely! Northstarr has an extraordinary team of professionals that work to make your project exceed expectations! I would be using them again for any other new project we need done! Well done fellas!"

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

Whether it is better to buy or build a chicken coop depends on your priorities, primarily cost versus time and effort. Building your own chicken coop can be significantly more budget-friendly, often costing about half as much as buying a pre-made one. If you have the time and skills, building a coop from scratch is the most economical option. However, if your time or skills are limited, buying a kit and hiring a handyperson to assemble it can be more cost-effective than hiring a carpenter to build a custom coop from scratch. If you want a perfectly constructed coop without sacrificing your own time and energy, buying one is the easiest choice.

The difference between a pole barn and a stick-built barn is in the construction. Large poles in the ground provide support for pole barns. For stick-built barns, 2-by-4 or 2-by-6 lumber (known as sticks) create a frame around load-bearing beams. Stick-built construction is far more popular for residential homes. Pole barns are more cost-effective because they require fewer materials and less labor.

There's no simple answer to which is less costly: wood or metal-framed homes. In most cases, metal building components cost more than wooden ones, while entire metal buildings cost less than wooden versions. However, regardless of the exterior framing or structure, each must meet similar building codes. This means that the costs are about the same, even considering that wood will require more maintenance than metal over time.

Adding an extension or addition to your home costs more than a loft conversion in all but the rarest cases where the home's structural integrity is lacking. Because a home addition requires a new foundation section or significant structural upgrades to handle a cantilevered portion, the cost compared to almost any loft conversion is significantly greater for the same square footage.

While a romantic getaway in a vacation treehouse may sound appealing, building one to live in year-round comes with more challenges. However, a growing number of people are adopting this small-scale living approach to appreciate an off-the-grid, private lifestyle. It allows you to feel closer to nature in a sustainable, customizable, minimalist, and eco-friendly way.
