He said they would be there Monday, September 1st. On Monday Dan came but did not realize it was Labor Day and he did not have all the supplies that he needed to start sanding or do the repair. So he had one of his workers, Troy, start the repair in the dining room. He worked on it for a few hours and left. On Tuesday Dan and his crew went to get the supplies that they needed and did not get to my house until the afternoon. The next day Troy was there and finished up the repair and they started sanding. They could not match up the flooring to flow from the dining room into the living room so they were going to put a threshold down. Dan brought the threshold and nailed it down but it was not level and was not as wide as the doorway. Troy took it up and sanded the floors so it would lay flatter. But when he nailed it back down it cracked, and now it had more holes in it from the nails, it did not look good. So Dan took it back up and would get me another one. They put three coats of polyurethane down but the floor still had dry-looking areas and you could see where the sander left marks all along the wall in the kitchen and dining room. They did not sand under the cabinets and it looked dirty from the old finish. Dan said he would return because he still had the new threshold to put down. I called him for three weeks or more and he never returned my phone calls. I finally went to the address on the work order and spoke with Dan's father about my floors and the lack of communication from him. His dad called him up right there and Dan agreed to come over that night to look at the floors. He came over and looked at the floors and agreed to redo them. He said he had his daughter for the upcoming weekend so I agreed to let him start the next weekend. I moved all my furniture back out of the rooms and I never heard from him all week and finally had to call his dad and then Dan called and said his equipment was locked up in a house that he is doing and the lady left town for the weekend and he didn't have a key to get it. I told him I needed to get my furniture back in the house because now it is late October and my good furniture was on the front porch and the added stress of having my house in disarray with everything stacked in the sun room and back bedroom where I work from home and can hardly walk to my desk. He had two other employees, Jed and Mark, come that week and say that the floors looked terrible and they were going to re-sand and do the job right. They only worked on my floors for a day and a-half and left and went to another job site without telling me they were not returning that day. I thought they had went to lunch. No one returned for several days and Dan did not keep me informed on what was going on and when someone would be returning. Finally Jed returned on Saturday and was surprised the floors weren't finished. He worked on them and came back the following week to finish the sanding and coat the floor with the polyurethane. They did not vacuum the floor before laying down the polyurethane and there was dust, dirt, grass and hair under the coat of polyurethane. Dan came back after I called him several times to tell him the floors looked terrible and the sanding in front of the refrigerator was very uneven and looked terrible. Dan returned on the weekend with his daughter to re-sand and smooth the floors again. He finally put a new threshold down between the dining room and living room. There was also a puddle of polyurethane in the hallway that had to be fixed and you could see swirl marks from the sanding in the finish. After he put the coat of polyurethane down and it dried, he missed a big area in the hallway. He came back on Sunday to put the last coat of polyurethane down and again, his vacuum did not pick up hardly any of the dust and debris on the floors. I got my shop vac out and went behind his daughter to sweep up as much of the dirt as I could. I am not happy with my floors, the sanding is very uneven and the floor has junk under the finish and it took 11 weeks to get him to finish the job. I just wanted to get my house back in order, my good furniture off of the front porch as it had been cold and raining during the time it was outside. I would not recommend this company to anyone. They are perfectionists and set very high standards which is reflected in the finished project. I had laminate floor removed from living and dining rooms and replaced with hardwood. The tile in kitchen and hallway replaced with tile that did not crack within 2 months of installation. Kitchen cabinets, cupboards, sink and faucet replaced. Kitchen, upstairs hall, dining and living room painted, fireplace surround retiled, doors replaced, new porch steps constructed. Doug and his team were always pleasant, prompt, and a delight to work with. They are also very flexible; I had some odd time constraints they completely dealt with. They also cleaned out a water damaged basement, hauled away mounds of moldy damaged items, repaired the damage to walls and it is now a beautiful family room. I found my house unbearable and depressing. The project was slow getting started because of Fall rain and wind, but once underway it went quickly and well. I like the quality of the actual construction. Dave is easy to work with and seems to know his stuff. His initial quote, without the driveway work, was higher than another contractor, but I chose him because of his reviews here and something negative I heard about the other guy. The construction work by itself would have gotten an \"A\". The \"C\" overall grade is because the various trucks, particularly the heavy readymix truck and the roofing materials hoist truck, drove across and parked on the soft lawn to access the construction location, instead of accessing it from the driveway. This resulted in about a thousand square feet of deeply rutted mud where nice flat lawn had been. Dave didn't mention that that was the plan, and I didn't realize I needed to ask. His assumption per our after-the-fact discussion was that I would have known I'd have to have that area filled, graded and re-sodded at my own expense next Spring. I wasn't happy with that aspect of the outcome when he said he was done. After he initially proposed that we would split the cost of having it fixed, Dave agreed to bring in fill dirt and smooth out the area at his cost. Getting it actually level after the new dirt settles, and seeding or sodding it, and all the work to eventually get it to a good smooth lawn again will be my problem. I understand that after the lawn damage was done and the work to fix it wasn't in Dave's quote, there wasn't anything good for him to do about it. It was too late in the Fall to fix it beyond what he offered to do, and did at his expense. I just wish that I'd known up front that he planned that access for the trucks. I might have changed my mind about whether having the garage built was a good idea. It was an unfortunate problem, because other than the lawn issue everything about the job, from estimate interactions to build quality to construction cleanup, went very well."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/mi/flint/motor-city-builders-reviews-2170964.htm"},"position":9},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"1-866-XS-TRASH LLC","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"MI","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Chene K."},"reviewBody":"I was exceptionally happy with both Norman, the owner, and the two men who came to load my garbage. Norman was kind enough to honor a long-expired coupon from Angie's List and he was always friendly and upbeat when we were setting my appointment - truly easy to work with! The men who came to haul the debris were equally friendly and professional. Both Norman and his workers stayed in phone contact with me the day of service, with Norman calling in the morning to give me am estimated time of arrival. The staff members also called me twice and kept me informed of their current job to better give me a time of arrival at my home. Once they arrived, they surveyed the debris and told me that my coupon would cover everything, including my trip charge! They were even nice enough to ask if some paint cans I was using as a door stop - my catch is starting to go - needed to be hauled away as well. With great service and excellent pricing, I will certainly use 1-866-XS TRASH LLC if I need garbage hauling in the future. FAQs for dirt hauling projects in Flint, MI
The kinds of items or materials accepted will vary by hauling company. Some companies will not handle hazardous waste, but hiring ones that do will cost from $5 to $100 or more, depending on what type and quantity of material.
Most companies will haul items such as:
Construction and remodeling waste: $100–$600
Appliances: $50–$600
Furniture: $50–$400
Electronics: $60–$200
Yard waste: $70–$500
Unfortunately, some plumbing scenarios, like a broken sewer pipe repair, will require excavation to complete the job. Plumbing excavation costs range from $30 to $70per cubic foot. However, if you need additional trenching, expect to pay an extra $4 to $12per linear foot. Keep in mind that these costs are on top of the plumbing repair costs, and they don’t account for labor costs. Consult your excavation specialist to determine an accurate estimate for your job.
The cost to hire a professional junk hauling service ranges from $60 to $600, averaging about $270. Your final price is determined by the type of junk, amount of junk, the distance to the dumpsite, and the equipment required to move and haul your items or materials. Keep in mind that construction junk removal is more expensive than hauling household items, so expect to pay $800 for removing large piles of debris.
The average cost for pool excavation is $2,500. This cost can range from $450 to $4,500, depending on the pool shape and size, time of year, and any need to move buried utilities.
When excavating for your pool, you might have to move existing utilities. You can expect to pay an additional $15 to $25per linear foot to move gas lines. To move a septic system, it’ll cost an additional $2,000 to $20,000. A pool that is 10 feet by 12 feet averages $450 to excavate, and a 20-foot-by-40-foot pool averages $3,020.
The cost for residential excavation is $3,200 on average, ranging between $50 and $200per cubic yard. Total costs could range from $500 to $15,000, depending on the project type, yard size, and soil type.
When a project needs an excavator, the contractor will subcontract one as part of the larger project. If you hire an excavation specialist, you can expect to pay between $40 and $180per hour. When excavating, if you have soil with excessive rocks or clay deposits, expect an additional cost of $200 to $1,200.
