"I hired them to re-roof my home and in conversation I mentioned I need to have my asphalt driveway sealed, not even knowing they do this work too. They asked me if they could bid on the driveway project too. This all happened in a short timeframe and I was very impressed by their timeliness and quality of work. The owner came and inspected the roof after completion and asked me to look at it with him. We climbed up the ladder and he explained everything and answered my questions. A prehung door is a door that comes ready to install, already mounted in its frame with hinges and stop molding included. Because everything is factory-aligned, installation is quicker, more precise, and convenient, as you don't need to drill or align the hinges yourself. This makes it a smart option if your current frame is damaged, uneven, or if you're working on a new build. Installation involves fitting the entire unit into the rough opening, shimming and leveling it, and then securing it. If you are replacing an existing prehung door, the process is even simpler, often just requiring you to swap the old unit for the new one and secure it with a few screws. Prehung doors typically cost only slightly more (around $20) than a door slab alone, making them an efficient choice.

You can attach the hinges to either the door or the frame first, depending on your preference. The order will not affect how the door hangs or the ease of installation. However, we recommend starting with the top hinge over the bottom one for stability, as it’s much easier to support the door from below while you install the top hinge. It will also be easier to pull the door outward from the hinges as it hangs from the top than it would be to push the door toward the hinges, as there’s less clearance on the lock side.

French doors can either open inward or outward, but because hinges are the mechanism for opening and closing, a single set of French doors will not be able to do both. Most French doors only open outward onto a patio, deck, or porch, while some only open inward if the outdoor space is limited and can’t accommodate the open doors.

While sliding glass doors are designed to be rainproof and weather resistant, they cannot be considered 100% watertight in conditions with heavy rain or winds. However, maintaining a door properly and ensuring that seals are tight can dramatically reduce risks of water intrusion.

At the minimum, you want your pet door to fit into its intended location, be the right size for your pup, and have energy-efficient and weatherproofing features.
