"Gary did a very thorough job inspecting my house and staying patient with me and I made my selection of tests to be run. We ended up finding more toxic material than I had imagined. He stayed up VERY late writing up the report so I was able to move towards a solution quickly. I bought one small and one large air purification system from him and have been running them for less than 2 days and can already breathe easier. Removing mold is going to be pricey but you can't put a price on your families health. Thanks Gary!"

"Mike and his daughter performed the inspections. He was responsive to my questions and doubts and was able to set up the appointment for the next day. I would have expected that the smoke detectors along with the doorbell to be tested - I didn't think of this until after the inspection. I did ask him to check some of the lights (porch, closet) that maybe would have been missed. Price was higher than most but he was able to accommodate my timing."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

If high radon levels are detected, steps include sealing entry points, installing a mitigation system, and retesting the air regularly to ensure reduced levels.

A homeowner can install a radon mitigation system on their own. But it’s a challenging DIY that requires a lot of knowledge about radon mitigation as well as familiarity with local regulations. You do not want to risk an improper installation that leaves the system unable to detect radon or gives it a shortened life span. Relying on a professional is the surest way to guarantee a successful installation.

Mitigation can take several days depending on home setup, equipment accessibility, and achieving effective diffusion system sealed efficiency.

No, air purifiers are not an effective way to reduce or remove radon. Radon is a radioactive, inert gas that cannot be filtered by standard air purifiers, which are designed to capture particulates like dust and mold. While an air purifier can improve indoor air quality by removing other pollutants, it should not be relied upon for radon. The only effective solution for high radon levels is a dedicated radon mitigation system.

Testing every 2-5 years or upon adjusting occupancy or structural changes maintains safe environments.
