"What was supposed to be a routine drain snaking but turned out to be something more serious. Jeff explained what was going on very clearly and came back the next day to fix the problem. He was very professional and answered all my questions. I’m very satisfied with the results I will recommend him to anyone needing a plumber."

"All drains did a great job. They were quick to diagnose the issue and could start work the next morning. They finished in less than a day when other companies we claiming it would take them 2 to 3 days. The slightly higher price was well worth getting our house back in working order so quickly. All drains replaced the main sewer drain line and sleeved the clay pipe with pvc and replaced the cleanout and 2 floor drains in the basement."

"There was a problem with the city inspection giving the final approval for tying the drainage into the storm drain so HomeSpec put in a sump pump and dug trench free of charge. For that reason the work took 3 days rather than two. The work site was left clean when finished. The eco seal sheeting on the basement walls really made a difference in the look and the damp smell. I'm very pleased with HomeSpec"

"The installation went very well, I am happy with the quality and design of the install. I had received quotes from a few other companies to install straps or I-beams, but Russ took the time to explain exactly what was needed. He wanted to install more straps than the competitor, but ironically it was at a better price. After researching carbon fiber strap installations, I found that his design would work the best (competitor wanted to use far fewer straps, but it would've resulted in 5-6' spacing, and 4' is recommended max). Precision was also very good about moving junk out of the way, since both walls had shelves that needed to be removed, etc. One thing I will say about Precision... I think they are very knowledgeable and good at what they do, but they don't have the a large operation like some of their competitors. That means, they don't have the additional staff manning the phones, scheduling, etc. So the company can keep their overhead low and offer very good prices, but on the other hand it can be difficult to reach them sometimes. Overall, I'm very happy with the installation, and will likely hire Precision Foundation Systems to do a bigger job very soon (helical pier install)."

"Though more accomplished than expected, the workers surprised me with a failed result. They couldn't put the project back together correctly; everyone saw something was off. Outside the stall looked fine, but the tile they "replaced" was actually the original, just poorly handled. They left the last row unfinished after hitting a curve hard and breaking the tile apart. Instead of using a diamond saw for a clean $400 straight cut, they took a shortcut that ruined the piece. The tile broke jaggedly, so they tried to hide the damage by burying the break line under piles of caulk and extra material. Now, the fracture is "leaking" through the mess. Worse, they left a metal tool inside the assembly, blocking water flow. While the drain placement was okay, the plumbing is now a disaster. They tore up the floor unnecessarily when they could have just cut small plugs around the pipe, swapped the plastic, and used thinnest Because of their "gung-ho" attitude and lack of communication."

"Shout out to Joe and James, the team from FSM, who came out to our house today to level out two sidewalks that had sunk towards the house. They did a great job, raising both sidewalks so that the water now drains away from the house. Very happy with the outcome."

Storm Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

The difference between a right-hand and left-hand storm door is where the handle is located. When looking at the door from the outside of your home, a right-hand storm door will have the handle on the right-hand side, while a left-hand storm door will have the handle on the left. Your storm door handle will be on the same side as your front door handle.

While storm doors should be tightly fitted, an airtight seal can actually trap moisture in the space. This can lead to condensation and icing on your door. Ideally, you will have a tight seal that still allows for proper air circulation and ventilation.

Most homeowners can expect to pay between $186 and $680, with the cost of installing storm doors averaging $432, including both materials and installation. Labor costs range from $75 to $400, depending on the complexity of the job; however, paying for a professional helps save you time and ensures proper installation. If you go the DIY route, you could spend anywhere from $250 to $1,000 for just the labor kit, which includes the door and hardware. You’ll also need to budget for tools, like a power drill and level, if you don’t already have them.

Homes need solid construction to survive a hurricane, including these parts:

  • A secure foundation at the right elevation for your home’s flood threat level

  • Hurricane straps to secure your home’s foundation

  • Waterproof basement sealant or rubberized sheeting that directs water away from the foundation

  • A strong, well-attached roof that’s firmly secured to the framing

  • Shutters or roll-down window protectors that you can close outside to prevent broken windows

  • A garage door bracing system to keep high winds from caving in or tearing off the door

  • Deadbolts to keep your exterior doors in place against wind pressure and floodwater

You can determine what size storm door you need by measuring for the storm door. Take the width at the top, middle, and bottom of either your front door or an existing storm door, then measure the height on the left, center, and right of the door. Buy a storm door that matches your measurements' smallest width and shortest height.
