"We worked with Rufino to update the bathrooms and closets in our home master bath/closet and two upstairs bathrooms and closets. He is a True Professional in many ways. He worked with my husband and me to create a modern design that encompassed our ideas. He introduced us to options that are more current in design as well. He created 3D images of our proposed master bathroom and custom closet using our material choices. These images were incredibly helpful in understanding what the finished rooms would look like. His calm demeanor put me at ease with the project and took away my reservations of having our home renovated. Also, having workers in your home can be stressful and Rufino completed the work in the time proposed! Most importantly, I feel Rufino is very trustworthy and was very accessible to me during the project - answering my questions and communicating the next steps in the work being done via cell, text and email. Our bathrooms and closets were finished with detailed workmanship and expert service. He worked hard to make sure we were totally satisfied. They look simply AMAZING. We look forward to more projects with Rufino and Labra Design Build!"

"The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

"We bought a house in an area we like, but we did not like the house, so much. We pretty much gutted the home. It was expensive, but it is the last home we will ever buy. Everything went great. The weather last winter was awful, and Ron and his crew kept our home warm, notified us of problems he encountered and promptly fixed them. He took about 4 feet of snow off our roof just because he is a great guy and didn't want us to have any leaks or ice dams. We took out a wall in the kitchen and that was completely redone and is stunning. Taking out that wall and expanding the kitchen was Ron's idea and we are so happy!! That was the best part of the entire remodel. He also came up with the idea of moving the laundry upstairs (where all the laundry is!). So, we moved laundry from a breezeway type area to converting upstairs 4th bedroom (didn't need) into two rooms--a laundry and extra bath. Existing upstairs bath converted to en suite with a jetted tub.
All new floors. Paint and crown molding, new doors and hardware. New bannisters on the stairs (this really came out pretty). New carpet upstairs. Ron's dad did some custom work for us on the fireplace, an office and made a window seat for my plants in the dining area. We must have put in 80 change orders. All Ron did was smile and say "I just want you guys to be happy."  I am pretty sure he went home every night with his head spinning but he managed to keep up haha.
We did want to add one thing for improvement, in that all our new doors were not painted on the top, so we have to go back and do this.  Also, one of my cabinets broke but I think it was a bad cabinet from KSI. I guess, given the number of things we had done, this is a small omission. I hope I can post pictures. The directions say you do it after you submit the review

"Nick did a great job getting us through our first bathroom remodel. Our space had a lot of issues and surprises and Nick helped to come up with solutions while keeping us in our budget. The new bathroom looks great and we are very happy with the quality of Nick’s work."

Home Building questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can finance new construction, though the process often requires a different type of loan than one for an existing property. There are several financing options available:

  • Construction-to-Permanent Loan: This is a common option where a single loan covers the building costs and then converts into a traditional mortgage once construction is complete and you move in.

  • Construction Loan (Stand-Alone): This type of loan provides funding only for the duration of the construction project. Once the house is built, you will need to pay the loan in full, typically by securing a separate, standard mortgage.

  • Builder Financing: Some custom homebuilders offer their own financing options, which may only require a down payment to begin the building process.

  • Bridge Loan: This can be a useful short-term loan to fund your new construction while you are in the process of selling your old home.

  • Home Equity Options: If you are building a second home, you might be able to use a home equity line of credit (HELOC) or a cash-out refinance on your current property.

It's also important to be aware that some lenders may have restrictions on financing for DIY house builds, so be sure to verify that you can secure financing before starting your project.

Modular homes are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and faster to build than traditional homes. They also offer customizable designs.

Ultimately, a work warranty is only as reliable as the contractor you’ve hired. That’s why trust and reputation are such important factors, in addition to having a solid contract and confirming appropriate licensing, insurance, and bonding. When looking for a contractor, it’s a good idea to read online reviews and ratings to see what kind of experience past customers have had. Issues with your contractor can make for an unsatisfying renovation process, but a reliable contractor can make the process go as smoothly as possible.

It usually takes around four to six months to build and install a modular home, although your timeline could go up to around eight months if there are delays in the manufacturing or permitting process. Heavy site preparation and foundation pouring can extend that timeline if you need them, as can customizations you want for your modular home. Your modular home company should be able to provide an estimate for the construction timeline before you sign any contracts or agree to any work.

Framing is often the most expensive phase of building a house because it’s time-consuming and requires a lot of materials. It costs between $20,000 and $50,000 on average, depending on materials and labor costs. Before construction begins, it’s possible that purchasing land is the priciest step in the process. Some plots of land sell for $3,000, while others cost upwards of $150,000.
