"Joe came highly recommended from the team members at LL Flooring on 28th Street in Grand Rapids, and he did not disappoint! He was kind, honest, and detailed, which was everything you could ask for! He had great communication with my wife and I, and made the whole process easy. I would HIGHLY suggest Joe for any flooring projects you might have in the future!"

"I hired Refloor to come back and do my basement too. The installation was delayed due to stock shortage but the floors are in and they are beautiful. I hired my own painter to stain the moldings to match the floors. The floors look so much like real wood. Great job!"

"Dave was extremely responsive and helpful. He wanted the choices of carpet/flooring to be ours but was extremely knowledgeable when we had questions. He was done in a timely manner and everything was very clean when he completed the job. We will definitely use him again when we need new flooring!"

Small jobs welcome

"We had our garage floor coated and the results exceeded our expectations! The crew did a full grind, epoxy base coat, full flake broadcast, and polyaspartic topcoat and the floor looks incredible. The team was professional, efficient, and clearly took pride in their work. Eddie stayed in contact throughout the entire process and made everything easy from start to finish. The garage looks completely transformed. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade their garage floor."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Although hardwood floors have a costly upfront expense, most homeowners find them to be worth the investment. They are incredibly durable and can last for decades with proper maintenance. Hardwood floors can also provide a high return on investment (ROI)—up to 118% on average—and add significant value and appeal to your home. Additionally, because they are easy to keep free of dust, pollen, and pet dander, they can sometimes help alleviate allergies for household members.

A subfloor's lifespan can range from 30 years to the entire life of the house, which is often between 50 and 100 years. The actual longevity depends on the material and its protection from damage. For example, while OSB may last longer than plywood, it is not the best choice for heavy flooring like ceramic tile. The most critical factor is moisture; a subfloor that avoids water damage, mold, and termites can last for decades. However, prolonged exposure to moisture will cause it to warp, rot, or grow mold, significantly shortening its life.

Ultimately, it’s a matter of personal preference. However, as a rule of thumb, lighter-colored carpets and walls will open up a room and often make it feel larger than it really is. On the other hand, darker shades tend to shrink a space, making it feel cozier. By mixing and matching light and dark colors, you can add dimension to the room.

Basements are commonly converted into game rooms. The potential challenges you may run into include controlling moisture, working with low ceilings, limited natural light, and the need for additional electrical or HVAC work. Addressing these issues can add to the total cost, but it ensures a comfortable and functional space.

No, thick carpet padding isn’t necessarily better than thinner padding. The appropriate padding thickness will depend on the type of carpet and the amount of foot traffic in the area.

For example, thick padding works well in low-traffic areas, like bedrooms, where you have soft and plush carpeting. However, thick carpet padding can damage low-pile carpet, which is used in the busiest parts of your home (like hallways and entryways). For that reason, it’s best to use thinner, heavier padding underneath carpet in high-traffic areas.
