We install metal post foundations called Screw Piles in all of the Aroostook County, Maine area. (From the towns of Fort Kent, Madawaska, Caribou, Houlton, Fort Fairfield, Oakfield and surrounding areas) These are used instead of Sono Tubes, or other concrete systems, and are drilled down below frost level to prevent, shifting, lifting, or sinking. We can install them for new construction and also for existing structures. They can be used as foundations for decks, porches, patios, carports, home additions, sunrooms, cottages, sheds, mobile homes, gazebos, fences, gates, hillside stairways, docks, bridges, signs, lampposts, solar panels, mailboxes, clotheslines, etc. We can also do light groundwork the project site.

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

It can be safe to live in a house with minor foundation problems as long as the issues are checked and monitored by a professional. Minor cracks are rarely a cause for structural concerns, but signs of leaks, sinking, or bulging walls should be strongly scrutinized by a foundation specialist. Similarly, it's always smart to hire a professional when you're concerned about buying a house with foundation repairs.

The property owner is responsible for driveway culverts. Check with your city and state for local laws, but in most cases, it is the responsibility of the homeowner to maintain and repair culverts.

Since repairs can be costly, routine inspections and maintenance are essential in order to keep costs down and prevent flooding.

Inspect regularly for clogs, clean drain lines, and ensure grading directs water away from the foundation.

Regrading around your home’s foundation requires you to stay 4 inches below the top of the foundation and 4 inches below the bottom of the siding. Too high and heavy rain will make its way into your home; too low, and you may experience an increase in critters and pests.

When installing your yard drainage system, consider the slope of your property. Drainage trenches must slope away from your yard by at least a 1% slope to drain properly

Also, consider how much water you need to drain. If your yard holds a lot of water in the winter, consider installing multiple drains to keep the area dry efficiently. Each municipality has different limits for how much water you can drain off your property.

Before digging, always call 811. Even if you’re only digging a few inches, you could sever a gas or sewage line. A cut line is a serious safety hazard.
