Dave swung by yesterday and did a great job at fixing the problem I was having with a couple of jets that were no longer working. Yet he didn’t just fix that. He sorted out another problem or two with the hot tub because he took the time to look the whole tub over. His preventative actions were GREATLY appreciated. Were he not so thorough the lights that needed replacing would have caused system failure down the line. THANK YOU DAVE! In addition, most of the work he did fell under warranty so I was happy about that. Having Mainely Tubs sell and service your hot tub is a no brainer. Dave also stuck around and gave me a much needed education on best water maintenance practices going forward. 100% delighted with Dave and his professionalism and care and concern. Whether you can repair a hot tub depends on the severity of the problem and the location. With the right tools and knowledge, you can fix problems like small leaks or switching out a dirty filter. If water is left inside the hot tub pump over a cold winter, it could freeze and severely damage the pump, water lines, and jets. That can cause leaks, which require very expensive repairs. It’s less expensive to leave your hot tub on all the time, though you’ll want to keep it at a reduced temperature. How much you use the hot tub is also a factor. You’ll want to keep it at a constant temperature between 80 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit for weekly or daily use, then bump it up right before you get in. If you don’t plan to use your hot tub that often, you can turn it off as long as there’s no risk of freezing.  

Hot tub repair costs are less expensive than purchasing a new one, especially if your warranty is still intact. You can shop for a secondhand unit or find a deal for a trade-in. If the price to repair your hot tub is higher than the cost of a new one, consider replacing your unit.

Biofilm growth can cause a hot tub to feel slimy. Hot tub biofilm is a slimy substance that’s typically due to natural contaminants like makeup, soaps, skin oils, deodorants, or lotions. A hot tub can also have a slimy interior or slimy water if the tub’s filters are old or damaged, or if the hot tub isn’t properly cleaned. You should drain your hot tub, wipe away any slimy residue, then refill the water and use a spa purge product that prevents the buildup of biofilm.
