Customers say: Quick response

"We had an excellent experience working with Joe Lane last spring, when we hired him and his team to make some repairs to our small cabin on the ledge of a steep mountain. Joe gave us a very reasonable estimate, which he stuck with. He also worked with us to find the best time of year to get his truck and materials up the steep slope, and was great about staying in communication with us throughout the process. We asked him to convert the cabins small attic into a loft, with a ladder/stairs to get up there and a new window. The results were beyond what we were expecting - the finished product was absolutely stunning, and completely transformed the whole space. The quality of the work was exceptional, the communication was great, and Joe and his brother and dad were lovely to work with. I cant recommend this company highly enough."

"The crew that was sent over to do the job were very professional. I went out to watch them work a couple of times and that's just what they did. No one was on their phones and there was no fooling around. They had a job to do and that was exactly what they were doing. I would recommend Long Roofing to anyone who needs to have a roof replaced. "We hired Capital Construction for a complete residing of our historic farm house. The scope included the removal of the old cedar siding, necessary sheathing repairs, building wrap and the installation of James Hardie Fiber Cement Planks and new trim work. From the initial consultation with Capital Construction, the communication was clear and transparent. They provided a detailed, fixed-price quote with no hidden fees and clearly explained the materials, timeline, and warranty. The installation crew was incredibly meticulous. The quality of the finished product is flawless—the seams are clean, the caulking is neat, and the details around the windows and doors are precise. What impressed me the most was their attention to what you can't see: they took the time to properly install the weather barrier and trim, ensuring a long-lasting, watertight envelope for our home. We couldn't be happier with the results. Capital Construction has completely transformed the look and value of our home"

"They started as soon as it was light enough to work. A crew of around 8 that never slowed down. The roof was totally stripped in a couple of hours. They worked both sides of the roof at the same time. They seem to instinctively know how to keep the applicators supplied with roofing panels. Whenever things were caught up, there was no idle time. Cleaning up all the roof stripping and sweeping the area with a magnetic roller whenever there was any down time. Everyone seemed to work constantly, and the progress was amazing. I had my roof done 10 years ago and it took the crew for [Provider Name Removed] 10 days to finish mine. I don't usually follow through on writing a review but these guys are the real deal. They are finishing up this morning and it looks great. Keep them in mind if you are looking to upgrade. Rick [Consumer Name Removed]"

Siding questions, answered by experts

Wood clapboard siding needs frequent sealing to keep it in top condition—likely every two to three years. A sealant helps protect it from both moisture and sunlight damage. Your weather and climate will affect how often you need to seal the siding, but the pros recommend sealing it every couple of years. More durable woods in milder climates may not need to be sealed quite as often.

If you have stucco on the outside of your home, it’s technically considered cladding and not siding, but beyond that, it’s impossible to tell without a little digging. Without damaging the siding material, expose part of it to see if there’s an air gap between the siding and your exterior wall. If there is, you have cladding. If the siding is affixed directly to the exterior wall, you have a simple siding system.

Board and batten siding refers to the look and style of the installation rather than the material itself. You can install board and batten siding whether you choose vinyl, wood, fiber cement, or metal as your material. Among other popular siding styles to consider are clapboard siding, stucco, shake siding, and log cabin siding. Stone, stone veneer, brick, and brick veneer are considered high-end alternatives that can help maximize ROI and curb appeal.

Yes, new stucco siding can increase your home's value and curb appeal, similar to other new siding materials. Homeowners can expect an average return on investment (ROI) of around 70%. For an average stucco installation costing $5,700, this can translate to a value increase of nearly $4,000. The value can be further enhanced by choosing high-end textures or simulating more expensive materials like brick. Stucco is also a durable, fire-resistant, and versatile material that can last 50 years or more, making it an attractive feature for potential buyers, especially in hotter climates where its insulating properties are beneficial.

Vinyl siding will fade slowly over time but will likely be most noticeable starting 10–15 years after installation. This timeline varies based on factors such as the climate where you live. In areas with more extreme hot or cold conditions, vinyl is likely to fade more quickly.
