"Can’t say enough about how professional this company was with the inspection and estimate we received. They were super honest about the condition of our chimney(it’s in really good shape no work needed), so I trust them with the replacement of our liner. I know we are getting a quality product because it’s life time guaranteed. Work is schedule for a couple weeks out. I will add more to my review then."

"I had them do a cleaning and inspection of my chimney and they found damages to the brickwork and the top of the chimney. They installed a new cap and their cost was so reasonable. All their work is guaranteed as well, which is reassuring. They were clean, efficient and courteous. I would highly recommend Handy Andy and in fact they are doing an estimate for my neighbor to whom I recommended them to."

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

Generally, snow guards are not required by building codes unless a local municipality has included them in their code. Even though they are not usually required, snow guards are highly recommended, especially for metal roofs in areas that see significant snowfall throughout the year. They act as a barrier to large loads of snow that can slide off a roof, potentially injuring people and damaging property.

You may not always be able to see a soft spot on the roof from the exterior. If the underlying damage isn’t yet severe enough to cause the shingles to buckle or show other signs of damage, you may not be able to see that there’s a problem from the outside. A roof inspection will be able to identify soft spots. When a roofer walks on the surface of your roof, they’ll be able to find soft or spongy sections.

Whether you should replace your roof if it is not leaking depends on the specific problem. Just because your roof isn’t leaking doesn’t mean there’s no damage or wood rot. Roof leaks can take a while to spot—and the damage could be extensive by the time you realize your roof is leaking.

Even if you don’t see a leak, you should have a roofing pro perform an inspection on your roof at least once a year. A pro can spot damage you might miss. They can recommend whether you should consider roof replacement.

The cost to install roof heating cables typically ranges from $500 to $2,000, with an average of around $1,000. On a per-foot basis, you can expect to pay between $8 and $15 per linear foot. Key factors that influence the final price include the size and complexity of your roof, roof pitch, the type and length of the cable, the price of the system itself, labor fees, and whether any additional electrical work is required. Generally, smaller roofs will cost less than larger ones. The total cost usually includes both materials and professional installation.

The most obvious and severe sign of a roof leak is the presence of wet spots on your ceilings, specifically on the top floor of your home. You can also identify a roof leak from your attic if you see sagging insulation or if you notice mold growth or water stains on the rafters or the underside of the roof deck. From the street, look for cracked or missing shingles, moss growth, and shingles that are curling upward, all of which can suggest a leak.
