"They were skillful and very professional, and certainly know their business. The crew was very careful about our buildings and power lines and solved some extremely worrisome tree problems for us. Their cost was a little high, but I guess that's what you have to pay for good technology and safe, skillful, energetic work!"

"Matt did a great job. We had several very large trees that needed to be removed from the woods around our home. Some were dead and some had begun to block our solar panels. Matt is a knowledgeable and experienced arborist and very safely and carefully laid the trees down exactly where he planned them to. Debris was gathered up and taken away. I couldn't be more pleased and, as a bonus, our solar panels are putting out a lot more electricity. I would happily recommend Starling Treescapes to anyone."

If you’re wondering whether you can plant a tree where the stump was removed, know that the soil conditions won’t be ideal, so you should avoid it. The soil beneath the previous tree will likely be depleted of nutrients, plus there may be roots left behind that will seriously hinder the growth of a new tree. Also, if you use salt or other chemical solutions to kill the stump, these can linger in the soil for months or even years and prevent healthy growth. It’s best to choose a different spot that’s at least three feet away for a new tree, or wait at least a year and thoroughly amend the soil before you plant.

In some states and municipalities, you will need a permit to remove a tree on your property. In many cases where permits are required, a tree must reach a maximum height before a permit is required to remove it. You can either ask your local building department or a tree removal professional if you’ll need a permit. If you do, you can expect to pay between $50 and $150 for the permit alone.
