"I hired Innovative Plumbing to inspect and pump my septic tank on a property I am in the process of buying. Rick the technician that came out was extremely knowledgeable about the septic system and was able to find the tank. I will definitely be hiring them again."

"Mariano (spelled phonetically) contacted me right away. He diagnosed my issue over the phone and quoted a price. We scheduled a time for him to come out same day, arrived before appointment time, and removed/installed new sump pump (we purchased the sump pump before his arrival). He completed the work in the same day in a timely fashion and we paid as quoted. Thank you."

"Gary arrived on time and was very professional and went straight to work on my water heater problem. He explains things to help the customer understands and he is very reasonable and will not take advantage of customers like some of these other plumbing companies do. I was very pleased with his work and will use him again without a doubt and will recommend him to others. He is a blessing. He did a great job!"

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

Although air in your water lines won’t affect the overall quality of your water, it will lead to problems with your well water system if not addressed. Over time, too much air in your water lines can create blockages in your pipes, cause insufficient water flow to your taps and appliances, loosen pipes, and potentially damage important components of your well including your well pump and pressure tank.

The best times of year to pump or empty a septic tank are spring and fall. Many professionals recommend spring because the ground has thawed, making the tank easier to access, and any snowmelt or rainfall can aid in proper drainage. Pumping before summer is also ideal to avoid conflicts with vacations or outdoor gatherings.

Fall is another great option, as contractors may be less busy than in the spring. Servicing the tank in late fall or early spring can also reduce the risk of overflow from extra precipitation during winter and spring.

While summer is a possibility, winter is generally not recommended. The ground is often frozen, which can make it difficult to access the tank, and the waste inside may also be frozen.

To keep your septic tank healthy, be careful of what you flush and be conservative with water usage, as even flushing too much water down the drain can throw off the septic system’s delicate balance. Never flush anything but human waste and toilet paper down your toilet, and be sure to have the tank inspected and pumped every two to five years, depending on the size of your household and your water usage.

Call a dedicated well and pump professional to install your new well pump. In some cases, plumbers may have the experience needed for the installation, but it’s always better to go with a specialized pro. Well and pump contractors have hundreds of hours of experience with all different types of wells and pumps.

Most septic tanks need to be emptied every 3 to 5 years, but it’s a good idea to monitor the fill levels of your septic tank all the time. You can do this by installing a pressure level sensor to detect the internal tank pressure, or by having a septic tank company perform an annual inspection to let you know when you’ll need to pump the tank.
