Replacing a light on a pole at a medical office building.
This generator was installed on the side of a house. The window had to be replaced to allow for the generator to be placed in this location. The window was made to not open per code.
We installed this 14kW generator to power the whole house. We used load shed modules to be able to save the customer money by using a smaller generator than would have been needed if we didn't use the load shed modules.

"I couldn't have asked for a better experience. They were hired to replace the main electrical panel/breakers at my elderly mother's home. Roni, the electrician, was a wonderful communicator, and was very knowledgeable and thorough in completing the job and in putting her at ease. The price was very reasonable. I will be using Nasr Electric in my own home, as well as recommending them to all my friends and family in the DMV area."

"Chesapeake electrical just finished replacing an outlet on our 32 year old home. They also inspected the whole electrical system and offered options to upgrade our house to current standards. The technician, Brian, was very experienced and fixed our problem right away. Too many Christmas lights, too much recent rain and trying to charge an electric car on a 110 line! They came out the day after we called, the scheduler, Jackie, was very personable and determined to get this ordeal over for us. Our immediate problem was not too complicated but I can see down the road we may need more substantial electric repairs and we will be calling Chesapeake electrical for what we need. I recommend everything about their operation. Last comment and probably the most important comments moment, the cost was very reasonable. For someone who almost never uses an electrician, we are glad we found Chesapeake electrical. John and Jane, Ellicott City"

"I hired Vital Electric to assess and fix multiple electrical issues in my new home. "I had an excellent experience with Clinton Electric Co. overall and the electrician they sent, Eric Shipley. Communications before the visit were prompt, professional, and geared toward promoting confidence. Electrician was also courteous and professional throughout the visit, provided excellent communications as to expected costs and the diagnostic he was performing, and performed the work quickly and efficiently (tested the wiring, replaced electrical outlets, installed new circuit breaker, and tested to confirm all outlets and the dishwasher were working). Provided email with invoice before leaving the visit. Company communications practices geared toward safety and inspired confidence - dispatcher provided name of electrician before visit; company also texted and emailed photo of electrician prior to visit. Electrician wore mask and followed safe COVID-19 practices. I was very pleased and would use this company again, as well as highly recommend them."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

When wiring a switch, the power typically comes into the receptacle first. The neutral wire goes straight to the outlet, while the hot wire is split. You'll need a wire nut to splice the hot wire back to one of the receptacles, but you will also tie another wire into that same wire nut and run to the switch. That way, you can control the flow of electricity to that particular receptacle by turning the switch on and off.

Unless you’re a licensed electrician, you should not DIY any electrical work in your home. Working with wires and electricity is potentially dangerous to both you and the structure you’re working on, and it could lead to house fires or electric shock if you’re not 100% sure what you’re doing. There’s a big difference between changing a light switch cover and rewiring an entire home. If you’re staring down a potentially difficult electrical job, give a pro a call.

Yes, tamper-resistant outlets are designed to be safe for use in homes with children. They feature a spring-loaded shutter that blocks the electrical slots when not in use, which helps protect children from electric shock if they try to insert an object. While they are the safest option available and highly effective, it's important to note that few things are truly 'childproof.' Children may still try to imitate adults by inserting a plug. For this reason, it's best to use tamper-resistant outlets over less effective solutions like plastic covers, which can be removed or pose a choking hazard. Always supervise young children around any electrical outlets or devices.

You can install a three-prong outlet without connecting any ground and plug in three-prong electronics into that outlet. The devices will function normally, but you won’t get any of the protection that grounding provides, so there’s an increased risk of serious problems if something goes wrong.

You can bury underground electrical wire six inches deep—but only if you use a rigid metal electrical conduit. For rigid, non-metallic conduits, bury the wire at least 12 inches deep. If using an underground feeder cable rated for direct burial, you'll need to place it at least 18 inches deep, as it has no conduit for extra protection.
