"

My husband was also the one that dealt with them. Their service was fast and it looked really great. It was just that the glazing they put on didn't exactly stick, but their work did not really promise the protection that they were advertising. Some places chipped a little easily and we were pretty careful with it. It was kind of intricate work.

"After a kitchen and family room renovation, the crew did an excellent job painting the rooms. We also needed a precise color match with our cabinets for trim work and it was spot on. The color consultation provided by Matt was so worth it. Everyone loves the color he advised is to choose.

They were professional, clean, and meticulous with their painting. Highly recommend."

"Bill did an outstanding job with the paint as well as the drywall. He has great attention to detail. He spent the time and did not rush through. I had to pay him more than quoted because I felt that he deserved more for his time."

"Roberto was very responsive. After an initial call and estimate via text/email, he showed up within 24 hours to fix a jagged, 4 foot wide hole in our drywall. When he arrived, we pointed out even more work that needed to be done (nearby door trim and frame repair). Surprise! Roberto worked all day and exceeded our expectations. I was truly amazed when I saw the completed job. It was so perfect, it was impossible to tell the wall/trim had ever been damaged. In fact, Roberto had not only repaired the damaged area, he primed and painted the entire wall. The care and attention Roberto took with our home reflects the ethic of a true craftsman. VERY highly recommend."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Yes, wainscoting is installed directly over drywall. However, ensure the drywall is in good shape since it will support the wainscoting. If the drywall has issues, such as holes, mold, or mildew, repair them before installing the wainscoting. Alternatively, you can install a plywood substrate before attaching the trim.

For maximum stability, install grab bars on wall studs, as this will adequately support the weight. However, if you don't have access to studs, you can get by with wall anchors. If opting for the latter, choose specialty hollow wall anchors.

Drywall can get wet and dry out without sustaining permanent damage, but only if the water damage is minor. If you have a small leak and are quick to correct the issue and set up blower fans and dehumidifiers, your drywall should dry out. If the leak is persistent, the drywall becomes totally waterlogged, or mold begins forming on the drywall, you should remove and replace it.

There are six levels of drywall finish, from 0 to 5, that refer to the amount of work performed during the finishing process.

Level 0: Drywall is hung with no finishing work.

Level 1: Tape is placed over the seams between drywall sheets.

Level 2: A thin layer of mud is applied over the tape and screw holes. This level is common for utility rooms or walls that will be covered.

Level 3: A full coat of mud covers the screw holes and tape, but the surface is not sanded. This is often used in garages.

Level 4: This is the most common finish for visible interior walls. It involves applying two coats of mud over seams and screw holes, with sanding between each coat, creating a smooth surface ready for flat paint.

Level 5: This is a high-end finish for luxury homes. It includes full taping, mudding, and sanding, plus a final skim coat over the entire surface before painting.

If your home was built before the 1940s and was not remodeled in the past 50 or so years, you probably have plaster walls. Aside from assuming, there are some practical ways to tell if you have plaster walls, including the following: If you knock on the wall and it feels solid, not hollow, if you can’t insert a thumbtack easily, if there are cracks that look like spiderwebs, or if your home has curved, arched, or swirled walls, doorways, or window openings.

If you have an unfinished basement or attic, you could examine the backs of any finished walls to check, too.
