"I can’t recommend Penate Tile and Home Improvement highly enough! They recently completed a tile job in my basement, and the results are fantastic. The attention to detail and precision are top-notch—every tile is perfectly aligned, and the finishing is flawless. Even more impressive, they completed the entire project in just two days! The team was professional, respectful of my space, and left everything spotless when they finished. "Very satisfactory. He came on time to see what needed to be done. He and my son looked it all over and decided how to repair the roof. Mr. Stehm (I believe that is his name, pls forgive my mistake if I'm wrong) gave the most reasonable price. I got another estimate from another outfit for $1,000.00. Mr. Stehm came on the appointed day and fixed the roof w/in a reasonable (4) hours. Also, he cleaned up after himself.

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Options include clay, concrete, and slate tiles. Each offers unique durability, aesthetics, and costs.

Add a T-shaped spacer to each corner of a tile when placing it. You’ll want to nudge the tiles closer together so the spacers are touching each corner. When you’re done installing your tile, you can remove each spacer, wash them, and use them for your next project.

You can attach tiles to a wall using thin-set mortar. You’ll also need a notched trowel to create grooves within the adhesive so it flattens completely when pressed in and securely holds the wall tiles. Finally, you’ll need grout to smooth the gaps between the tiles and, ideally, a grout sealer to prevent mold. While it sounds simple enough, proper planning and execution are crucial, so carefully review the steps in this guide or hire a pro tile installer to complete this project.

To ensure an even and unbending surface to lay tiles on, you’ll typically need to put a subfloor under a tile floor. Fiber cement backboards are the most common choice, but using plywood is also possible. Don’t neglect this step, or you could risk water damage and grout or tiles prematurely cracking or crumbling, especially in an area with high foot traffic.

Larger tiles can be difficult to install because they’re heavier and bulkier than their smaller counterparts, which makes them harder to haul around and put in place. Plus, if you don’t install the tiles correctly, they could crack or break. For these reasons, it’s best to hire a professional for large-format tile installation.
