Customers say: Quick response

"It is rare that I come across a contractor that is worthy of an all-around 5-star review, but Tom Dodge absolutely deserves that distinction. Tom efficiently installed a central vac system in my existing home over two days with surprisingly little disruption or construction intrusion. I found him to be prompt, courteous, knowledgeable and easy to work with in addressing my concerns and requirements. Tom is an honest, hard-working, hands-on, conscientious professional who does all of the installation work himself. I am very pleased with the installation and functionality of the retractable hose system. I highly recommend the system and am very satisfied that I hired Tom Dodge for the installation."

"Not a central air install but a mini-split. Installed in an older home with window units. The new 24000 BTU Mini-Split was installed, wiring work, and all cleanup was done by Zack HVAC Services in one day. Professional, efficient, and courteous team that delivered. I wouldn't hesitate to reach out for any future work or refer them to family and friends."

"C.M.W. provided expert installation of our central vacuum system. Their pricing and value were competitive. The technician, William, who installed our system informed us of all work prior to beginning and left all areas clean upon finishing. We are more than pleased with their service and recommend C.M.W. products and services."

"Bruce and his team did great work. They built a new deck for me last summer which I have thoroughly enjoyed. They also painted a couple of rooms. On time, fast, hard workers. I will definitely use Hunny Do again. I've already recommended them to others."

Central Vacuum Systems questions, answered by experts

While caulking is handy for quite a bit of jobs, it’s still limited. Any crack or gap larger than 1/4 inch is best left for a more intensive repair job. When you hire house painters, they should run a thorough check to see what they need to repair before they start the job.

Large repairs that caulking typically won’t do well with include cracks or holes larger than a 1/4 inch, rotted wood, or metal surfaces, such as garage doors.

Common repairs for central vacuum cleaners include motor repair, electrical repair, and blocked filters. Central vacuum motor issues typically come with a burning smell and loss of suction. With these issues, you might need simple lubrication to keep it running smoothly, or for more extreme problems, you could need a motor replacement.

Electrical problems or losing suction strength, might be reasons to swap out electrical components for new ones. However, a local central vacuum repair professional can tell you the best plan of action for your system.

It can be difficult to know right away if your central vacuum is clogged since it operates quietly compared to regular vacuums. However, there are a couple of signs you can look for. If you feel like it’s losing suction or isn’t cleaning effectively, then there’s likely a clog somewhere.

Make sure you turn the vacuum on and feel the end of the hose handle. If you don’t feel any suction, then you’re dealing with a clog in the hose. You can see if the clog is further down in the system by attaching the hose to each outlet until you find the one with the least amount of suction.

No. Only the hose or the attachments are portable in a central vacuum system. A portable vacuum is a standalone model like a stick, canister, or upright. A central vacuum system is defined by a central power unit, which is installed in one place like an AC unit, and the connected network of piping to funnel the suction.

Regular cleaning, sealing, and inspections help identify problems early and maintain aesthetics.
