Customers say: Terrific value

"AWESOME & AMAZING customer service! Above & beyond the call of duty! WOW! So very grateful for their tremendous dedication! They worked very hard to get the job done! Brought all snow removal machines needed as well as shovels. Even had us relocate cars so they could get the parking spaces completely dug out to! Very polite, professional & thorough! Keep them in mind if YOU need GOOD customer services! They are the BEST!"

"I had used Emerald for repairs to my flagstone walkway (excellent), but, last fall, I had them aerate and over seed the lawn. It is coming in just beautiful this spring. I find them to be fantastic to work with. Highly recommend this service."

"I can't say enough about the service and quality provided by Sino-American. We live abroad and had to manage the entire project virtually. Mason's team handled everything from architectural plans, DCRA approval, gutting and asbestos removed in the existing home, construction of the extension, plumbing, electrical, new roof, new HVAC, and all finishing work. The place looks amazing. Finally, there aren’t many GCs operating in DC anymore because in part of the surprising painful permitting process. Mason was incredibly diligent and transparent throughout the entire process and made both the permitting and the entire project as painless as possible. My family is happy to recommend Sino-American GC for any construction project."

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

Soil testers and licensed excavators are often the professionals you hire if you need a perc test. In some cases, structural engineers will also be able to conduct the test for you. In many municipalities, you’ll need your professional on-site to dig and fill the holes with water, as well as a representative from your local building department or health department. That representative is the individual who will determine whether your test passes or fails.

You should always calculate real estate development costs on a case-by-case basis, so there’s no specific formula to estimate your total. You should speak with a local construction manager to see what you’ll need to do in terms of clearing and leveling the land, connecting utilities, and pulling permits for construction. A professional will be able to get you an accurate estimate for land development.

A land survey can take anywhere from a few hours to a month or more, depending on the size of the property, the type of survey, the property’s accessibility and topography, and the availability of historical property records. A simple boundary survey to determine a fence line can be completed in a day while surveying 50 acres of undeveloped woodlands may take weeks or longer.

Prior to excavation, you should prepare the dig site and call 311 before you sign anything.

To get your site ready for excavation, you should move anything in the area that isn’t affixed to the land. You can save money on the excavation by removing hardscaping, including walkways, decks, concrete patios, and paver patios.

Before you carry out any digging, you should call 311 to confirm that there are no utility lines running through your excavation site. Skipping this step could lead to severe injury and property damage if your excavator hits a water, sewage, or gas line.

If you can’t find any records online, you’ll need to contact your county clerk’s office to do further research. They should have property records on file, or can at least point you in the right direction of who to contact. You can also speak with your neighbors about when their houses were built because they were likely built around the same time.
