"Echoing other satisfied customers of Oscar's company, we too are extremely satisfied with their reconstruction of our 30+ year old slate patio. The job site was not particularly easy to access, but the crew handled it all with aplomb. Oscar and Douglas were readily available to answer any questions we had, and volunteered many points of information as the work was in process. The individual that performed the final re-installation of the slate tiles did so by himself, and his work in particular was impeccable. Also, his cleanup of the job site once the work was completed was exceptionally well done."

"All this in a matter of a few shorts weeks, not months. 
Then when everything was said and done and Deck Cetera had already been paid all of their money the front door was damaged and they came out in record time and repair it.

"Cleaned gutters on two story colonial and also gutters on addition and two car garage.  Several gutters were badly in need of cleaning/unclogging.  Also, Vince adjusted several downspouts, added support brackets, and repaired a few supports on gutters.  We are very pleased with the work."

"Willie and his crew are top notch. They worked very hard to power wash my deck and fence as well as stain and seal it. Not only that, they repaired portions of my fence and deck and fence gate that needed some TLC. They were able to do all this work in under three days. It would have taken me at least 2-3 weeks to do it all and would not have turned out as nice. The final project turned out more than great and made our backyard look even better than it did before. An added bonus is that Willie is a very personable person and always has a great attitude. The prices/estimates of his and his crews work are highly competitive and the best around. Applying too much sealer to a deck might seem like extra protection, but it can cause more harm than good. Wood is a porous material with a limited capacity to absorb liquids. When you go overboard with sealer, the excess can't soak in and instead forms a film on the surface. This leftover layer is prone to peeling, cracking, and trapping moisture, ultimately defeating the purpose of sealing in the first place. 

In most cases, there should be a small gap between the house and the deck, usually no more than ½ to ¾ of an inch. This space allows water and moisture to flow through instead of pooling against the side of your house. It also lets flashing protect your siding from runoff, which is one of the most common issues with decks.

Ultimately, overapplication of stain can compromise the deck's appearance, durability, and longevity. It may result in an uneven finish, with excess stain pooling, dripping, or drying into thick patches. It can also obscure the wood's natural grain and texture, detracting from the desired aesthetic. Moreover, excessive staining may not fully penetrate the wood, leading to poor adhesion and premature wear. Additionally, thick layers of stain are prone to peeling, cracking, and blistering as they struggle to bond with the surface. 

The best direction for a gate to swing depends on its location and purpose, but swinging inward is the general rule. An inward swing is often considered safer, prevents the gate from opening into public spaces like a sidewalk, and may be required by local building codes.

There are exceptions and specific considerations. If your property is on a slope, an inward swing might not be possible. For a deck gate, it's safest to have it swing away from any steps. In a backyard, the direction can be a matter of preference, though an inward swing can be helpful when carrying heavy items like a wheelbarrow into a garden.

Regardless of direction, ensure the gate can open fully without hitting any objects or blocking spaces. While an inward swing is standard, a gate that can swing both in and out offers the most flexibility if your setup allows for it.

It’s best to prime composite decking before painting. This promotes better paint adhesion, helps create a smooth finish, and can mean the paint job will last longer. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for application, allow ample primer drying time before painting (typically 24 to 48 hours), and thoroughly clean the deck boards to promote the best adhesion.
