"The Raven Termite and Pest Control team from Baltimore were outstanding. I called to schedule an appointment for inspection on Wednesday, the inspection occurred the next day on Thursday and the installation of the bird control hardware occurred on Tuesday. "They were prompt, professional and I haven't seen anymore signs of pests since the treatment. I was able to use the Angie's list deal for the service to get a better price. I appreciated that they did not try to upsale me with an expensive monthly treatment plan like many other pest control companies."

"Ed was very prompt and explained everything thoroughly. He set up a few traps in the attic sealed the holes where the squirrels were coming in and then came back a few days later and relocated the squirrels. He also did an excellent job fixing the holes in the ceiling where the squirrels had punched through. Excellent service"

"I think I did use Metropolitan Chimney Masonry Services Inc. They didn't replace the chimney cap. I would rate them average. I wouldn't give them a star review because I had to go back on my roof and put my chimney cap up. They got the main job done but they didn't finish it. I would rate them a 'B' because they didn't put the chimney cap on the chimney. I would say that the price of 78 dollars was fine. The quality was okay, it was clean. If you want to say that it was a real quality job then you should finish the job as well, this is what I would say."

Bird Control questions, answered by experts

Most treatments take 1-3 hours, but severe infestations may require multiple visits.

Keeping birds away from a porch can involve a combination of strategies. Start with cleaning your porch. Remove food, debris, and plants that may be attracting feathered friends. Afterward, install physical deterrents like netting or spikes. Next, top off your porch with a decoy or two—and owl or hawk works. When wondering how to keep birds off the porch, it is always best to use humane efforts that won't harm winged creatures or the environment.

Finding a dead bat in your home can be frightening, even during spooky season. The United States Department of Interior states that if you find a dead bat, take these steps:

  • Contact your state wildlife agency to report the finding

  • Photograph the bat safely to help the wildlife agency determine the species

  • Use disposable gloves to place the bat into a plastic bag, making sure to spray with disinfectant and close the bag securely

  • Thoroughly clean your hands and any clothing that came into contact with the bat

If you see one dead bat, you might have a large bat infestation that needs to be treated immediately. Call a local pest control company to properly inspect your home for other bats.

The lifespan of a bird's nest depends on the species. The building process can take from two days to three weeks. Once built, the nesting period for baby birds can last from two to ten weeks before they leave the nest. While most young birds are ready in two to six weeks, some predatory species may need up to two and a half months. Some species nest four to five times per year, so a nest could remain in use for several months. For specific information about a particular nest's longevity, it is best to consult a wildlife professional.

Numerous predators kill hornets, including frogs, birds, lizards, bats, spiders, and hedgehogs. Some larger predators, including rats, skunks, and racoons, will occasionally attack a hornet nest in order to eat the larvae inside. These natural predators typically don’t eat enough hornets to make them an effective form of hornet control.
