"At " VKB Kitchen and Bath" they are the best and I am very satisfied with their work!! I had to get my kitchen remodeled and from day 1, Calvin helped me map out how to make it more efficient by reorganizing appliances and cabinets. I was also impressed with the professionalism and customer service at the beginning and leading up to completion. Ferhat informed me of the timeframe for completion in advance and 2 weeks later I have a stunning new kitchen. I recommend them to all my friends since they can see for themselves the good job they did. Without a doubt, I will use their services again as I need more work in my house."

Customers say: True professional

"Suma responded to our request to snake our basement floor drain. Upon inspection we were quoted a price for the job which we felt was reasonable. The technician completed snaking the drain and then tested it thoroughly to be certain it was clear. Very professional."

"It went great. Derrick is amazing. Was very upfront with the cost estimate. He communicated very well throughout the project. He also did an amazing job to resolve the issue. Did a walkthrough in the end with me to test everything to make sure all concerns have been addressed. I very much look forward to working with him in the future. Thank you for your service."

"After two days of non stop running of the sump pump, Rema came on time as agreed and was eager to help! First he suggested to replace the sump pump but he found that only the maintenance was required! After emptying the pit, he ran a conclusive test that cleared the constant noise. We will definitely use him again."

"Danny came and assessed the problem and told me that it is actually not the evaporator, but that one of the pipe was clogged. Instead of the $1200 he originally quoted, the job is actually only $400. He and his assistant fixed the problem and tested the unit. Unlike the other repair shops that are very SPEEDY in giving you an inflated quote, Danny is very honest, he could have charged me $1,200 and I wouldn't know the difference. The job was done in high quality. I highly recommend him."

Percolation Tests questions, answered by experts

Asbestos is commonly found in certain older homes, depending on the time period in which they were built. Asbestos use in home construction began in the 1920s and peaked after World War II before being limited by legislation in the ’70s, so a house constructed in 1880 is unlikely to contain asbestos, while one built in 1950 is much more likely to. Research a home’s history to determine the time period when it was built and any renovations made since.

Asbestos siding can be dangerous, but it doesn't necessarily pose a health risk if it's in good condition and left undisturbed. The danger comes from inhaling asbestos fibers, which can be released if the siding is damaged, deteriorating, crumbling, or disturbed during remodeling or repairs. Exposure to these airborne fibers can cause serious, life-threatening diseases like asbestosis (lung scarring), mesothelioma (an aggressive cancer), and other lung cancers.

If your asbestos siding is intact, the general recommendation is to leave it alone. However, if it's damaged or you plan to renovate, it's crucial to handle it safely. Due to the significant health risks and the difficulty of containing the fibers, it is not recommended to perform any asbestos work yourself. Instead, you should hire a professional asbestos removal company to inspect, repair, encapsulate, or remove the material. The presence of asbestos can also negatively impact your property's value.

Unlike some home problems, such as water damage or pest infestations, asbestos can be very difficult to spot. Asbestos is a mineral in the form of microscopic fibers and was previously used in building materials for its bonding and fireproofing abilities. Insulation, roof shingles, ceiling tiles, floor tiles, pipe wrappings, soundproofing materials, and textured paint features like popcorn ceilings are common sources of asbestos, particularly in homes built before 1980.

Age is perhaps the biggest indicator of asbestos, as legislation passed in the 1970s labeled asbestos as dangerous and regulated its use in building materials. Signs of age in the form of wear and tear or material degradation are also indicators that asbestos fibers may be leaking into the air, but ultimately, it’s difficult to detect with the naked eye. If you have reason to suspect asbestos in your home, it’s best to hire a certified asbestos inspector.

Asbestos-containing materials are not easily affected by water and do not disintegrate or dissolve when exposed to it. However, porous materials can deteriorate due to water exposure, leading to the release of asbestos fibers into the air. The settling of asbestos fibers can also occur as water makes them heavy, which reduces the risk of airborne exposure, though future disturbance of the materials could cause risk. Wetting asbestos-containing materials does not constitute safe removal, and the proper handling and disposal of asbestos materials should be left to professionals.

No, an N95 mask will not protect against asbestos and many other hazardous materials, such as carbon monoxide, gas, chemical vapors, and other gases. You will need a respirator specifically designed to protect against asbestos. However, if you suspect asbestos is present in your home, hire an asbestos abatement professional immediately and avoid the area until they arrive for the inspection.
