"Responded quickly to telephone call. Had basement family room remodeled after a sewage backup. Was able to work with our request. We believe that the requested drywall installation was subcontracted out to another company, called Berea Drywall. While the job completion was adequate, there are gaps in the ceiling dry wall and many rough areas in the bathroom and family room areas.
While construction was in progress, contractor cut the main water line with a saw and did not inform us until after we called them upon return from work to find the basement family room wet yet again.
While frustrated with this experience, I would give this contractor another chance, I would just be more insistent in my expectations.

Small jobs welcome

"I am impressed with his attention to detail and a genuinely good person to have in my home working. My german shepherds loved him too- our dogs are a good sense of character. We had a large brown spot in our ceiling from water damage. The bathroom shower leaked from above. The plaster damage in the ceiling was cut out, drywall was put up. The finished ceiling looks perfect! The first paint he bought wasn’t a perfect match so he took a ceiling piece to get paint that was a perfect match. His work was so meticulous and his personality so kind, I decided to hire him for a big project i’ve needed to have done but couldn’t find the perfect person. Our house is 100 years old so finding the right person to do plaster work and painting is a valuable find."

"I think I talked directly to the owner. Porcelite scheduled service within a week. Technician arrived a few minutes early, got the job done, presented the bill and got out of my hair. I didn't even need to move my sink cabinet which is within a couple of inches of the tub."

"Just before having new cabinets installed, we painted our kitchen only to find that we are terrible ceiling painters! We left the job unfinished, which left part of my first floor painted and an awful "stop line." This painting job was going to require knowledge of how to blend two different paints and different coat numbers. We needed a professional. Cleveland called us promptly after we claimed the Angie's List deal to set a date. He was so kind to stop by briefly to give us guidance about what furniture should be moved and what could stay put. He didn't want us to do more moving than was necessary. Cleveland arrived early on our scheduled paint day and began covering our furniture with plastic. He was so careful to cover our brand new kitchen cabinets and counter tops. He took time to wrap our new dining room light and ceiling fan too. I truly appreciate his attention to detail. He is a talented painter and was able to blend the pre-painted kitchen with the rest of our living room. He took time to patch a small crack in the ceiling that he discovered in our hall. You can no longer see a hint of our ceiling paint disaster. Instead, it looks fresh and flawless. While painting, Cleveland noticed that our attempts to "cut" our kitchen were pretty crooked. He asked if we had the paint left over and redid the walls where they meet the ceiling to offer us a more professional look. He also noticed that our crown molding had never been caulked. He offered to do this for us as well before leaving. This willingness to do some extra work to truly make our home look polished goes above and beyond. Cleveland is kind, careful, attentive, and professional. I have already recommended him to my family members and spoken with him about returning for another job at my home."

"Manny was very quick to respond. He stayed in contact with me during the week to ensure I understood what I was paying for and he wanted to ensure he understood what I was requesting. Communication was key for me because it showed he valued me as a customer and he wanted to do the job. The painters were right on time at 8:00 and did exactly what was needed. I needed 2 bedrooms painted and had some patchwork needed from shelving that was on the wall and a black design on a wall that needed covering up. While I wouldn’t say the job was perfect (there is some paint on the ceiling and baseboards, which I wish wasn’t there. I like even painting without smudges or runoffs from the edges) I’m not nitpicking. There was some cleanup left behind for me, but very minor. Very professional and nice and I’m glad I called! Will probably use again. I have 2 bathrooms and a bedroom next on the list."

Popcorn Ceilings questions, answered by experts

Small repairs or applications can be DIY projects, but removing older textures, especially with safety risks, is usually left to professionals.

On average, repairing a ceiling costs anywhere from $450 to $1,750. However, there are many variables that can impact the price of this project. For example, the type of ceiling material, type and extent of the damage, and local labor rates all affect your costs. Holes and cracks are less expensive to fix, while structural issues and water damage are pricier problems.

Popcorn ceiling textures can enhance acoustic properties, while their removal or repair modernizes appearance and resolves health concerns from old asbestos.

Because of the nature of the texture, it's common for the popcorn texture to loosen while painting. Popcorn ceilings are delicate, and using a heavy hand with a roller or applying overly wet paint can loosen the texture. To avoid a mess, handle the material gently with a roller or brush. It's also smart to test a small area first, and if the texture starts coming off, the ceiling may need repairs or sealing before painting.

Priming a popcorn ceiling before painting is a good idea, especially if the ceiling is stained, discolored, or has never been painted. Interior paint primer helps seal the surface, preventing stains from bleeding through and allowing the paint to adhere better. Use a stain-blocking, water-based primer for best results.
