"First we had an inspection and detailed report on what was needed. The configurations and materials were too old and worn and/or not up to modern specifications. There was definitely a safety hazard with regard to fire and to carbon monoxide. And much loss of heat up the chimney, rather than into the room. We already knew much of this to be true, and the inspector provided detailed photographs and measurements. The job took 2 men a week.
