quickly and on time. . . . could have used a warning that the goop they put on the joints would smoke for a while when I fired up the stove.

When ever new stove pipe is replaced the new painted material will have a short burn off period which is normal for all new pipe. This is a one time event and should not happen again for the life of the material. This info. should have been conveyed to you during the installation. Great. The window was 9am to 11am. They showed up at 9:01AM. Chris was professional and did a great job. He showed me pics of what I needed to have done and explained why. You will be comfortable in their company.

Robert Waid installed a fireplace insert several years ago and we use it every winter both for auxiliary heating and aesthetics. Columbia Chimney comes out about semiannually to clean the chimney and inspect the insert to. About 10 years ago they replaced the chimney cap and its ceramic base. All work was completed in a professional manner. Cleaning was accomplished with no soot or dirt left in the family room after the job was completed. One year after the fireplace insert was installed, Columbia Chimney provided an inspection and a discounted (or maybe it was complimentary, cleaning.

Excellent service at every step from estimate to completed work. The company cleaned & inspected my chimney and provided numerous pictures of the inspection clearly showing condition so there were no doubts. Owner, Rob Waid takes a very professional approach to his business, was excellent to work with and communicates well. He headed the project manager to remove and replace deteriorated brick & mortar rakes on my chimney; it was not a simple job and was very labor intensive. They also repaired the crown and waterproofed the chimney and will return 28 days after the brick and mortar work was done to allow time for curing then will waterproof the new rakes /crown. Would not hesitate to use them again and they have done chimney cleaning, inspection and waterproofing for me in the past. We've been in this house since 1985. Had another company waterproof chimney the first time we had it done and within a year it leaked.

This company, now trading as Columbia Chimney Services, did an excellent, very professional job. They arrived on time and completed the work on time, protecting the floors with tarps and covering the outside heat pump nearby the chimney. They explained very completely everything they would be doing and provided the HeatShield option for the interior chimney work to prevent replacing the flue. The workers were very polite and personable, very focused on customer satisfaction. Rob Waid, the owner, was highly recommended by the National Fireplace Institute and he personally performed the HeatShield portion of the work. I am very glad I hired this company. Their price was in the middle of 3 bids I received, but this was not a project where I wanted to make a decision based on the lowest bid to do the work.

They're a great company to work with. They arrived on the days promised, both for the estimate and the actual work. When they were doing the work, they noticed some other issues that were worse than they originally thought that affected the work they were doing, and did hundreds of dollars worth of additional repairs at no expense to us just to insure that the final result was up to their standards. Robert was extremely professional and really cared about the results of his work - we'll definitely hire him again in the future.

It went quite well. It took a few weeks to get on their calendar as it was late December and they were quite busy. When the day came, Rob arrived when scheduled and he and his colleague went straight to work. Once they were done, Rob gave me a detailed, written report with what they had done as well as recommendations. He explained everything to me and was not at all "pushy" with things he thought would be good, but not necessarily urgent, to do. One thing that was a potential fire hazard (the log grate) he clearly explained why and where I could buy a new one. I would definitely recommend Columbia Chimney Services!

Excellent!! I had a new wood stove was installed about 2 months ago. This was a replacement for an existing stove that was approx 25 years old & had seen better days. The quality of the work & quality of the new stove are top notch. The new stove is a Regency F1100 with a blower & nickel accent door. While Rob was unpacking the new stove he noticed a small mark on the top surface. We agreed that it was relatively minor & he returned a few days after the installation with touch up paint & it looks perfect. Thank you!

I received another estimate first, but my parents had recently had some work done by Columbia Chimney and were very happy with them. I decided to get a second estimate and Columbia Chimney gave me a better price for the work and included two coats of water repellent for the brick exterior as well (other estimate only included one). Robert, was prompt and very friendly. He provided a detailed explanation of his recommendations and the work to be performed. They arrived on time on the day of the repair and finish on time. He and his crew were friendly and informative. I would definitely recommend them and will be using them for my chimney cleanings and inspections in the future.

The folks at Columbia Chimney Sweep did an excellent job. Not only were the considerate of the hardwood floors and furnishings while cleaning both of our fireplaces, Rob Waid did an excellent job of answering my 1001 questions and explaining exactly what they were seeing and what it meant when they did the inspections.He spent the time while he had the camera equipment inside the chimney to show me exactly was going on inside my chimney - it turns out the chimney liner for one of the fireplaces was severely damaged - explaining (likely) why it happened, and going over the repair options. He even provided some alternative that would work out better for my family and I. Since my wife and I were already discussing having the family room remodeled, that last was especially helpful. When were ready to move forward on that project, we'll be talking with Rob and Columbia Chimney Sweep about replacing the fireplace with a wood burning stove.

Very professional and clearly communicated the work that needed to be done. They arrived on time and proceeded to do the inspection. They protected the area in front of the fireplace with a tarp to keep things clean. A thorough inspection was done. Pictures were taken of the inside and outside of the fireplace, flue, exterior, and cap to show the area of concern. A followup plan was made to make necessary repairs. We have used this company before and have always had a good experience.
