"They were terrific. They redid my kitchen, scraped wallpaper, etc.  The Foreman, Walter, was fabulous.  He actually called me once when he was stuck in traffic to let me know that he was going to be about 10 minutes late.  I couldn't believe it.  He pretty much painted everything.  He was meticulous.  Everything had to be moved out so that it could be completed the right way.  It was so much better than any other painters I've had in the past.  The cost was a bit more, they were our middle estimate, but totally worth it.  He refinished seven doors as well as my kitchen and laundry room.  The cabinets looked like they just came off the showroom floor.  He made a whole room in our carport.  It was a beautiful job.  He was a true craftsman.  The employees were thoughtful and had been with the company for over 20 years.  They spoke very highly of the owner.  They've been in the area for a long time.   They really go the extra mile. They worked with me."

"HOA's requested us to replace the rotten wood in the exterior of the house (window frames, frieze board, 2 upper level rake boards and corner frieze board). Mr. Omar came out personally the next day I talked to him and gave me a good advice on what what to do. I had 3 other quotes (including a friend of mine) but Mr. Omar's gave me the best quote (and to replace the wood with PVC material!) and he came very recommended from Angie's list. He's also kept his promise to clean up each day (because other contractors around the neighborhood left their work stuff laying on the ground). Overall, we're very happy with his work and the professionalism he and his crew displayed. I highly recommend his company and will use his company again in the future."

"Martinez custom painting did an amazing job smoothing textured ceiling and removing a built entertainment unit. They were easy to work with and did a great job covering up the flooring and sealing areas to prevent them from getting dirty"

"George's painting, inc was responsive and professional from start to finish. The project entailed wallpaper removal from 2.5 bathrooms and kitchen, repainting those rooms; installing a tile backsplash and vinyl tile floor in the kitchen; replacing the kitchen countertop; repairing a cabinet; repairing drywall and painting the ceiling in the master bedroom. The owner came out to do the estimate himself. He was accommodating when I wanted to expand the scope of the initial project and came out a second time to give me an updated estimate. He was easy to reach via cell or email. The estimate was more than fair. His crew completed the job in three days. The crew was polite, professional, and did a good job cleaning up at the end of each work day. I highly recommend this company and would use them again."

"Extremely well. Kikou, LLC is an amazing company; provides an amazing quality work product! Most of all, they are amazing to work with to ensure you are satisfied. They did three two feature walls, my master bath, and my powder room. I have booked to have them do additional projects. I have a new home and everyone who sees my wallpaper asks for Kikou, LLC contact to get wallpaper installed in their homes."

"Marcos had already done a bathroom for me so this was a no-brainer. Notice the before and after photos. We had an original yellow bathroom that my husband loves to use because our master bathroom is 5x7. Wecalled Marcos and we negotiated a fair price. My job was to pick all the details and handle the shower doors on my own. They removed a tub and we made a shower. We placed everything from toilet, vanity, vanity lighting, added a shower light, a Panasonic fan that is so quiet you don’t know it is on. They tiled the floors, shower floor and walls (tile from BF Ceramics) and all the fixtures (Somerville Kitchen and Bath). They would have finished the bath in 10 days but I had a delay, once again with the vanity, then I had to leave town. The shelving in the pics will be stained the color of the vanity when they come back, once I pick a stain. This crew aims to please. The Moen shower fixture was sticking out too far and they fixed that. Moen’s instructions are incorrect but they handled in stride. The price is the labor and construction type items. I controlled my expenses by managing the cost of tile, grout, trim, toilet, vanity, plumbing fixtures including the diverter, etc. Well, I have the master bathroom and a deck I need to replace. I particularly like working with Marcos because when he commits to doing a job, he is your whole focus. When I got estimates from other folks everyone wanted to take 3-4 months to finish. Marcos finished under 10 days if we don’t count the delays on my part with that darn vanity."

"FDC Painting worked with us to ensure that they understood our needs (two in home visits to make sure they had it right). They scheduled us promptly after signing the contract. The team showed up on time and quickly worked through the project. They moved furniture and ensured the floors and furnishings were covered and well protected. Once walls were stripped and repaired, they used quality Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams paints. The house was kept clean and tidy. After the job was completed the owner of FDC followed up to make sure we were happy with his work and to ensure there was nothing else required from him or his team. Results of the job were very good. We would recommend FDC and use them again."

"The finished result was impeccable.  I couldn't be happier with how it looks.  The painters also did an excellent cleanup after they finished.  The only problem was a miscommunication between Mr. Hernandez and me. He and I originally agreed that his crew would do the work on August 18.  When nobody showed up, I phoned Mr. Hernandez, who told me he had moved me to August 19, saying he had left me a message to that effect earlier. I could find no such message in my e-mail or on my answering machine.

"Have lived at property for 20 years without addressing major interior renovations. We interviewed 7 companies to perform Bathroom overhauls. IF work was performed to our satisfaction, the understanding was that the remodeler would have pole position (front row-inside lane), when we addressed the Kitchen Remodel. Mega Kitchen and Bath (Ibrahim and Emry) presented a "can-do" attitude from the initial interview, assisting us with a 'mock up' of the actual bathroom cabinets/tiles/colors/patterns - all while we were still in the evaluation stages for which company to select. This important step was missing from all others, as we were 'on our own' in terms of the design selection process. We left from their showroom 80% certain they would be our choice (with one other company interview/visit left). At the end of the company evaluation process - they were our hands down choice to work with. We continually heard the phrase "it is possible" from Ibrahim and Emry, when discussing options and modifications - certain to arise during the fog of construction. It was re-assuring that no matter the unforeseen dilemma encountered (shower stall downsizing/wall removal/floor-threshold heights/cabinet alterations), that Ibrahim had the solutions to address the challenge. Having busy schedules as we do, this was especially important to ensure the project continued on schedule. Both bathrooms now have beautiful cabinets and tilework (floor/walls/shower drains). The Hall bathroom has a more metro/urban style design, with the Master bathroom being more of a natural/slate theme. The Master bathroom is now modernized and opened up, having removed two walls. Next, Mega Kitchen and Bath performed a complete remodel of our nearly 40 year old kitchen. They opened the room up by knocking out a wall and installing a two tiered peninsula in its place. The overall theme was more modern, with Ultra Craft Textured Melamine cabinets (off white) with textured floor tile/backsplash (latte colored theme), and a gorgeous gray sparking quartz countertop to pull it all together. Throughout the entire renovation process (2 baths and 1 kitchen - nearly 70K in cost) we found Mega Kitchen and Bath to be flexible to our specific needs (mobility/design preferences) - never overcome by unforeseen/developing obstacles encountered along the way. Ibrahim and crew were an absolute pleasure to work with - truly desiring to make the customer happy, and going the extra mile to deliver services as promised. We would not hesitate recommending them for anyone looking for interior renovation work. They provide a healthy selection of beautiful patterns/colors/materials to choose from and assist in pairing down the selection process - by taking a more proactive approach with potential customers. My wife (borderline chef in her free time) has waited 20 years for a moment like this. Now she couldn't be happier, cooking away in her brand new gourmet kitchen - compliments of Mega Kitchen and Bath!! Thank You to all who made our new life possible: Ibrahim, Emry, Jose (Jr/Sr), Wilson, Tony and Others who assisted!!"

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts

Because poison ivy and similar plants can cause potentially life-threatening allergic reactions depending on your sensitivity, it's best to hire a professional to remove it. Hiring a local lawn care service or other professional also increases your chances of successful eradication so that you don't have to deal with the issue again several months down the road.

One of the biggest downsides to peel-and-stick wallpaper is that it doesn't last as long as traditional wallpaper. Its lifespan depends on several factors, including the quality of the paper, proper wall preparation and application, and the room's conditions. As a general rule, peel-and-stick wallpaper can last for at least five years, but this can vary significantly. Budget products may only last about 3 years, while higher-quality products can stay up for 7 years or more in ideal conditions. Factors that can shorten its lifespan include high humidity (such as in a bathroom), dirty walls, and low-quality paper. If used on flooring, expect it to last only 1 to 3 years unless sealed. However, the shorter lifespan can be seen as a positive, making it a great choice for people who enjoy switching up their interiors more frequently.

Most jobs take 1-3 days, depending on room size and adhesive strength.

If you can already see the texture of the existing wallpaper through the layer of paint, then the texture could also come through the new layer of wallpaper. If that’s the aesthetic you want, then proceed. But if you want a smoother surface, you should either strip off the existing paint and wallpaper or hang a layer of liner paper before proceeding.

To remove pre-pasted wallpaper, you’ll need to wet the wallpaper or steam it to loosen the paste on the back of the wallpaper. Spray the paper with water, then let it soak for 10 to 20 minutes. From there, you should be able to peel off the wallpaper. Then, you may need to follow up with a cleaning solution and a scraper to remove any remaining wallpaper paste on the walls.
