"My house is located in a wet area and I always have water coming into my crawlspace, even if it hasn't rained in several weeks. The moisture issues are compounded by the presence of iron ocher, which would cause the trench drain and sump pit in my crawlspace to clog and overflow unless I crawled back into it and treated it with bleach/chlorine every week. Basement Systems suggested a plan to install a new drainage system and relocate my sump to an area that would be much easier to access and maintain. They upgraded the existing sump pump to a triple safe system with three pumps (including a battery backup!) so I have multiple redundancies in place to prevent flooding. They also wrapped my crawlspace with a heavy duty vapor barrier to keep all of that moisture from permeating up through my house. I couldn't have been happier with Javier and his crew, and my wife had no qualms about having them in our house while I was away at work. They called me several times to communicate their schedule, and took care to protect the flooring on the main level of my house. Javier was more than willing to work with me to route the sump discharge pipes in the area I wanted them. He and his crew worked very hard and put in extra hours to have the job completed on schedule in two days even though they ran into several unexpected issues. I couldn't be happier with the quality of work, the professionalism of the crew, and the integrity of company, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Basement Systems to anyone."

"Mr. Di Fatta and his sons removed the old bricks, cleaned out the salt deposits, poured new concrete with steel reinforcements, and laid new bricks. All very professional. The walkway looks great and I am very pleased with the results. Excellent value for the money."

"Everything went great.  Marvin was courteous and very knowledgable about concrete and how to address my problem.  He and his team were very punctual and made sure to keep the job site very clean.  I've had several neighbors comment on how nice the finished product looks.  If you need a reasonable price to replace, upgrade or add concrete for your home, Marvin and his team are the way to go.

"The start date was delayed about two weeks due to weather but once they got going they worked steadily until the job was done. They were here early each morning and left at four. The workers were polite, friendly, and asked questions when they weren't sure about a few things. They left the place very neat and tidy. The slope looks very good. It's to early to tell how much better the drainage is but it is definitely better than it was. They were easy to work with and very dependable and efficient. Would definitely hire them again."

"The initial inspection was thorough and the price was reasonable. The workers were on time and very professional. They explained what they were doing throughout the process and cleaned the worksite when completed. Due to some minor coordination issues, the project took longer than expected. However, I also used the company to fix my front porch which included repairing the concrete slab, replacing 3 iron rails and the wood beams, and painting; this was completed in two days. I would hire this company again."

"Our Sewer line was backing up and when I snaked it, the line came back with a clump of clay dirt. Later we found out that the cast iron piping under our basement slab had failed at some point and the water from it made a huge cavity around a footer that had we not tended to it would have collapsed our entire house in. We ran through a gambit of contractors and Mcfee was the only one able to grasp the gravity of the situation and had the capability and expertise to handle it quickly and properly (as well as without making me jump through hoops). BGE Home said they could only work on the sewer line but I had to find someone to expose it. They wouldnt cover it under the plumbing nor sewer line plans we had (initially denied, then said they would but the plan would only send out 1 plumber and a second plumber would cost double). Another contractor said they would poke a hole in our concrete slab and patch the pipe in a 3'x3' square without scoping the pipe with a camera nor determine where to put the 3'x3' hole for $7k. Mcfee had Greer Plumbing (Matt and team) come out and camera snake the line and mark the entirely of the pipe with a locator to accurately come up with a solution. Greer was great. We executed on the contract and these guys NO JOKE diagnosed, trenched the entire basement, replaced all cast iron piping and refinished the entire basement all within 28 days -11/15/19 and 12/12/19. In comparision, It took AES near 4 months to redo a small bathroom for us. To top it off, Bill hand held us through the home owners insurance paperwork. Jack and team were wonderful to interact with and honestly feel like family that I want to invite back during the holidays. Their masonry experience especially came in handy when we found a big crack in the foundation and when we discovered that part of the pipe ran under a fireplace (repaired both along the way without skipping a beat). Bill even has been following up so far in 2020 to make sure everything is settling in fine and to schedule a time to patch up the small incidentals. All in all a 10/10 experience and would full-heartedly recommend them to anyone who runs into similar challenging problems. TLDR - McFee is the one stop shop that has the capability and resources to solution any sized residential job from soup to nuts."

Concrete Leveling questions, answered by experts

Concrete leveling is absolutely worth it if you have sunken concrete slabs and want to restore them to level, especially if the slab is part of your home foundation. Concrete leveling is less than half the price of replacing concrete sidewalks, patios, walkways, and pool decks, and it’s about a quarter of the cost of replacing a foundation. If you also treat the underlying problem, it can be a worthwhile and permanent solution.

Polyjacking and mudjacking can both be effective solutions for sinking concrete, but they have key differences. Polyjacking, which uses expanding polyurethane foam, is often considered a better option because the foam is significantly lighter than the cementitious material used for mudjacking. This reduced weight puts less pressure on the underlying soil and lowers the risk of future sinking. Polyjacking is suitable for any sinking concrete slab, while mudjacking is typically only recommended for non-structural concrete, such as sidewalks, patios, pool decks, and driveways. The primary drawback of polyjacking is its cost, which can be up to four times higher than mudjacking—as much as $25 per square foot compared to a maximum of about $6 per square foot for mudjacking.

Mudjacking restores level surfaces, prevents further damage, and is more cost-effective than a full replacement.

Mudjacking is usually reserved for light-duty slabs, like patios, driveways, and sidewalks. However, it can be an effective way to lift garage slabs and concrete around the perimeter of the home, which could harm your foundation if it’s not done properly. The risk of damage is why having a professional mudjacking company carry out the work is important. This type of slab or foundation repair is relatively inexpensive, especially if you consider that a DIY job requires that you pay to rent the necessary equipment.

The timeframe is generally a few hours, allowing for immediate use post-hydration, ensuring minimal disruption to surrounding activities.
