Not flooding, or even shop vac-able volumes, just enough to be annoying and require mopping. Dominic and his crew were here today to install an under-floor drainage system and a new sump pump. I was dreading the demo (I have a concrete floor) and the mess involved, but these guys came prepared for everything! They used dust abatement measures to protect all my basement-stored items, and they removed and hauled all the debris away when finished with the excavation. What really impressed me was the concrete restoration upon completion. I've previously had a sewer line replaced through the basement floor, and the contractor really "botched" the floor repair. "On the morning the work was to be done, the people from Guardian came and began breaking up the concrete to put in the pipe to the pump. A while later, the people came who were going to remove the oil tank. They drained it and cut it in half in order to take it out the back basement door. Then the Guardian people continued their work and were finished the same day. (I was a bit concerned about the amount of fine dust that was in the gravel they surrounded the pipe with. I was worried it might clog the openings to the pipe. They told me it would wash away with the first heavy rain. This work was done about a year and a half ago and everything has been working fine.) They picked up when they left, so that the basement was as clean as could reasonably expected, considering the amount of work that had just gone on. The only hitch was that they couldn t get in contact with the electrician right away, I think he was out of town or something, but he came the next week and put an outlet in for the pump."
